I'm already decided on wolf for backstory reasons. The build is mainlt 2 weapon fighting/archery while riding the wolf for advantage. I was more wondering what feats to use.
If you're going to roll a mounted archer and I would recommend the sharpshooter feat or crossbow expert (at which point I would recommend rolling both a regular crossbow (d8) and a hand crossbow(d6), so you can roll rapier your and hand crossbow in melee combat)
On the other hand I would recommend the defense of fighting style and taking the polearm master feat to give yourself Lancer flavor. If not downright dipping into fighter/Cavalier. Or you could just scrap the Ranger idea and role as a wolf riding goblin cavalier.
You do realize that having your wolf do something uses your action, right? A better idea to me would be to take Animal Handling and Vehicles(land) from the Folk Hero Background to control your Wolf mount. There isn't that much that can boost 2 weapon fighting while mounted, I mean there is Dual Wielder. I would double up with Archery and Sharpshooter instead and capitalize on the Wolf's superior speed. Lastly, I would take Hunter over Beastmaster, using Colossus Slayer or Horde Breaker, I would allow range weapon attacks with these abilities.

Making a wolf riding kobold. Beastmaster. What should I put in the build?
What do you want from the build?
For fun I'd skip the wolf for something unusual like a giant wolf spider or giant frog.
