I'm currently theorycrafting a Swashbuckler and want to take a few levels in Hexblade. I don't care to much about getting a second attack with Thirsting Blade, mainly for using CHA for my attacks, Booming Blade, medium armor, shields and specifically Mask of Many Faces (backstory stuff). I was debating if I should take 1 or 2 levels in Hexblade, taking the Eldritch Adept feat if I only take 1 level. I see pro's and cons to it. If I take 2 levels the pros are:
- 1 additional 1st level spell known.
- 1 additional invocations of my choice.
The cons are:
- 1d6 less damage for Sneak Attack.
- Delaying all my Rogue levels by an extra level.
I actually get the same amount of ASI's, since if I take 1 level I take the Eldritch Adept feat and if I take 2 levels I don't get the ASI at level 19. I could always use variant human or custom lineage, but I'd rather play another race (reborn). Would really like to hear your opinion on this!
My opinion is that you'll be far more effective with high Dexterity, leaving CHA in the 14-16 range and taking Genie over Hexblade. The biggest benefit of Hexblade is the charisma weapon, which rogues don't need.
The second level of warlock gets you a second spell slot, which is a big jump in casting ability. Depends on how much you plan to rely on spells. Hex is a hell of a drug for a skill monkey, since you can debuff enemy ability checks to, say, roll Perception or Insight on you.

Debuffing Insight/WIS is nice when you want to use Panache as well.
