Long story short my assassin rogue accidentally became a pacifist through a reality altering spell and I’m having a very difficult time playing him in and out of combat, but I can’t change my character.
That's kinda odd. Have you talked to your dm about how you're feeling about it? DnD is about having fun, and if you're not it would be good to tell them.
Yes I’ve talked with him, and it’s less I can’t change my character it’s that I’ve been playing him for nearly a year now. Currently I’m playing in a Batman like way or using creatures or other people to kill for me, but it kind of feels like a hypocritical way of being a pacifist
Look into grapple rules and carry a rope? Turning one group on the other is great! You can use the dodge action and just try to generally distract foes from your allies, or try to convince your party there has to be a way past w/o fighting and the assassin's ribbons play pretty well to that role, you can create the persona of someone to talk everyone by with some time and money. You can pretty easily ruin people through their reputation and the fact they remain alive allows you to later inoculously get extra money later helping the person you ruined get somewhere new, be their travel agent if you would, being a pacifist assassins seems paradoxical but you were a rogue first, and they dont "need" to kill.
