In my current adventure I had a mishap where my level 3 Human Rogues consciousness spent a little too much time separated from her physical body. So instead of rolling a new character the DM and I came up with the idea of a Necromancer and an Artificer transferring my consciousness into the body of a warforged rogue. (This is fantasy by the way so it happens).
My question is, over time would it be possible to modify my new body in ways to incorporate roguish enhancements, such as turning my hand into a launchable grappling hook with attached cable or adding something such as darkvision or other vision enhancing improvements to my eyes? (Insert Inspector Gadget theme song here)
There’s a couple upgrades in the eberron book, though not specifically what you are mentioning. You should check with your DM about availability, and possibly homebrewing any other things.
I'd say come up with weird techy steampunk implementation of existing feats and items. Mobile feat or winged becomes rocket boots. Linguist becomes universal translator. etc.
Having a integrated weapon is very roguish. You could even do a whip. However artificer levels is the only non dm dependant way of acquiring such tool's.
A lot of the more useful features would probably count against the number of magic items you could be attuned to, but with DM approval, a lot of money, and an Artificer or two skilled in doing what you want, I don't see why not.
Yeah, I wasn't planning on circumventing the magic item limits but just thought it would be cool to have them incorporated into my body. And with a decent Sleight of Hand skill check, money shouldn't be an obstacle.
