I've just hit Swashbuckler lvl 5/Fighter lvl 3 with Fighter hitting lvl 3. I'm going to go with Battle Master for my fighter subclass with the maneuvers Ripose & Brace. My question is, do I pick Feinting Attack or Precision Attack as my third? I plan on taking Elven Accuracy when I level up fighter to 4 next level up.
We don't play flanking but my character has a pet Pseudo-dragon (Summerwise) that I normally use to help and give me advantage on attacks - thereby triggering Elven Accuracy when I do get it. My DM doesn't necessarily target Summerwise with attacks and there are other party members that can queue up advantage for me from time to time (Fairie fire, trip attack and we play with grapple giving advantage).
For rogues Precision attack and not missing your sneak is really important.
I second this. If you are planning on taking many more levels of Rogue, take precision attack. A huge portion of a Rogue's damage output comes from Sneak Attack. You don't want to miss it.
Am I going to be missing that much if I am rolling 3 d20s for attack rolls? Two from advantage and a third one from Elven Accuracy. Everything I read points to Precision - not using up bonus action and adding to attack roll being the biggest reasons. I just think that it is going to be nearly impossible for me to miss if I'm rolling 3 d20s per attack roll.
If you're not dual wielding you could take quick toss as it gives an optional BA attack. Not huge damage unless you need to use your action to escape a condition etc then the BA attack allows use of sneak attack etc despite action used up. Not sure on your fighting style and equipment so may be invalid suggestion.

You won't miss a lot, but it will still happen occasionally (think rolling 4-5-6 on the 3d20's). Having precision attack will hedge your bets so that is basically never happens. Precision attack can also be really nice for attacks that are taken out of turn, like Attacks of Opportunity. If you don't have advantage on the attack, Elven Accuracy isn't helping, and making sure you land that attack can set you up to have advantage when your turn does come around (I'm assuming you are using a Vex weapon of some sort since they are usually the best choice for Rogues).

Would love to hear everyone's thoughts.

Life's hard - get a helmet!

Thank you for the breakdown. You’ve convinced me. It’s the necessity for precision for attacks out of turn that got me. Thank you!
