So I had a Pathfinder character that I am trying to convert to 5E and have run in to a bit of a roadblock. First, let me explain the character. His name was Wingnut and was a goblin that worshipped Vortain, God of Chaos, Anarchy, and many of his followers were drug addicts, to the point that it was highly believed that the only way to "commune" with Vortain was to be stoned out of your gourd. Wingnut was also a bit of a tinkerer, loved making something out of percievably nothing (always got stupid high rolls to scrounge for materials in the most unlikeliest of places) and enjoyed coming up with ways to combine his alchemical creations (drugs) and his engineering to create unexpected weapons. For example, he took opium and turned it into cocaine then devised a grenade that would then aerisolize it and get it into people's systems to cause ill effects. Add to that he was a rogue with a pension for causing havoc in populated areas. So the problem I am running into is coming finding/creating a homebrew that fits with all of those elements he had going for him. Would anyone have any advice on where to go or how to go about even starting something like that?
You could play an Arcane Trickster and reskin your spells into gadgets and drug effects. Just about any Enchanment or Illusion spell could represent an opiate grenade. Mage Hand could be some kind of grapple gun or a pet crow. Acid Splash, Create Bonfire and Poison Spray could represent vials of acid, Molotov cocktails, or poisoned darts. Prestidigination allows you to create non-magical trinkets. Chromatic Orb lets you choose from among several damage types and you could say the 50 gp crystal component is some kind of alchemist kit that cost the 50 gp. Just choose a mechanical spell effect you want and pretend it was some kind of clobbered todether device.
