I am a first time player and I’m currently an Assassin rogue. I wanted to ask/see opinions on this topic and what you guys think. So I found out about multiclassing and I thought about ways to make my character A. More fun and B. Better in general when it come to fighting or damage dealing. I am a mark of shadow elf, and have minor illusion and that made me think that maybe multiclassing in a wizard or some kind of spell caster might help get an advantage with sneak attack damage if I wanted to fight one person while their other campaign member are taking care of another. But it looks like to get any spells that would really have a decent affect like that would take multiple levels and I was really only looking to take one or two away from the rogue level. Another idea was taking two levels in the fighter class to get action surge to give me two attacks on the action and then a third with two weapon fighting. I was wondering what anyone think about this and if you guys have an experienced in multiclassing and things that might help me in this campiagn.
I also just thought about maybe going a bard multiclass with a college of whispers level 3 to add psychic blades to my damage (have one of this type of bard in my campaign). Let me know what y'all think!
I have a rogue that is multi classed with a monk. This gave me pass without a trace upping my stealth by 10 when in use. I know a lot of people like the rogue monk lock mix for the ability to make magic darkness(monk) see in magic darkness(lock) and then assassinate/ sneak attack(rogue).
18 rogue arcane trickster / 2 wizard bladesinger : Your rogue wizard mostly melee with acces to some spell. INT main stat next DEX 13 rogue arcane trickster / 6 wizard bladesinger / (1 fighter/wizard/rogue?) : same but trading spell thief for extra attack. 5 gloomstalker ranger / 12 rogue assassin / 3 fighter battle master : trying to get get advantage attack roll against people with lower iniative then you can fight mainly archer but can also melee damage dealer if you have another frontliner. Dex main WIS second 12 rogue assassin / 6 bard sword / 2 warlock hexblade: skillmonkey that crit seeking in melee, although it mainly melee focused it still have ranged option like warlock eldritch blast. Main CHA second Dex (you can also take swashbuckler intead assassin it make you more slippery in return losing advantage of people lower initiative then you) 8 fighter battle master / 12 rogue swashbuckler : you get 7 ASI goodluck figuring out what you wanna do with it. Fighter battle master give you the riposte option which allow you use reaction to attack you attacker if they miss allowing you apply sneak attak again since sneak attack limit per turn not per round.
There much more examples for rogue who very versatyle when dipping in other classes. as for the examples i gave only the first one doesn't have extra attack.
