So I'm currently a lvl 4 character with 3 lvls in swashbuckler and 1 lvl of fighter. I choose the 1 lvl of fighter cause I wanted the two weapon fighting style so that my off hand damage would have my ability mod. Do you think it's worth it to multiclass just for that as its a guarantee of +5 damage plus the attack damage? Or do you think its just better to go straight class?
It kinda depends on the campaign. That 5 damage is good in the early levels but it becomes an increasing small amount of damage as the game progresses. It also depends on how liberally you use your bonus action for other things. If it's rare, then two weapon fighting is fairly good. If you find you are using it for other things fairly regularly, then it is definitely not that great.
That being said there are some really fun ways to build a fighter/swashbuckler and I think it could be really fun. Put most of your levels in rogue. Consider building a bit more tanky and take sentinel. Using your reaction to deal sneak attack damage is great!
Hey Kendis so I'm the GM of the campaign and also playing a character as well, the campaign will be going to lvl 20 so I see what your saying about good damage now but later levels not so much, I'm always using bonus action to two weapon fight if I don't get my sneak attack on the primary attack.
