So I recently thought of a interesting he raids old ruins and lost cities. His goal is to fund the story of these items learning the lore and era. He will buy interesting items with good or interesting stories and only sell them after he found their stories.
Any thoughts on how to build him feats and skills needed, or ideas you had similar to this
I was thinking of grabbing skilled as a feat as well to build off his knowledge then maybe bard at some point to tell the tails and get the extra skills and features
"Khajit has wares if you have coin." This is a pretty cool idea, I really dig it. Keen Mind might also be useful depending on what you want to learn, seeing as you'll be able to recall anything you've seen or heard in the passed month which will help with the word-of-mouth travel or tales on some of what you find.
Exactly, combined with persuasion checks and decent charisma your Tabaxi might become a legendary treasure hunter and dealer. Could be a really cool character arc.

I had a very similar idea based on a character from a novel I read. I tossed around a lot of options that seemed noteworthy.
Class: Rogue
Subclass: Thief
Background: Sage, Hermit, or Far Traveler
Feat Options: Alert, Dungeon Delver, Keen Mind, Linguist, Mobile, Observant, Skilled. (these all have very practical applications for this theme imvho)
Equipment: Literally anything that is useful for adventuring and cataloguing your quests and items retrieved
I would suggest a DEX based build to remain speedy and agile and wise against traps, and a good amount of WIS for those other crucial saves. CON also never hurts if you get chucked into a bad situation. Combat readiness is a must, since a lot of good treasures deep with rich and rewarding lore is typically protected by some kind of entity. Being ready for combat is great, but being able to get away from combat unscathed is even better for a character like this.

Dungeon delver feat. Start with Dungeoneer's pack. Guild merchant background.
You will need perception, investigation, acrobatics, and athletics skills. Wouldn't hurt to have history, religion, and other knowledge skills either.
Over all, you will probably want to focus on DEX and INT.

3-6 levels lore bard is probably a good idea for versatility and skills. The spells will be helpful too.
