OK so when Revived rogue released I really liked the idea from an RP perspective. My DM and i decided that my Revived rogue would ave no memories and not know he was revived. The idea being that a Deity (i dont know who yet) has revived me for some purpose. at level 4 i will multi class into death cleric and get some info into my past. thats as much as i know. So here is the deal. im trying to decide what class to really focus on. the 2 play extremely well together allowing me the versatility of using spells and still using my sneak attack. Since my cantrips only care about max level i was thinking i might just take 2 levels in cleric but that renders my actual spells pretty pointless however with the Reaper skill my cantrips are kinda bread and butter. Ideas?
Personally i like the 12/8 split. I don't know which rogue subclass you were thinking but arcane trickster allows 1/3 of your rogue levels count towards spells slot levels. which let you up cast spells like spirit guardians to deal a bunch of damage even when it's not your turn. You could also look into being a grave cleric which makes sense to me as you were dead.
my rogue subclass is the new Revived rogue. ill look into that split. The main advantage to being a revived rogue is the ability bolts from the grave. after using your cunning action you use a spell attack and deal your sneak attack damage as long as you havnt used it that turn.
the versatility has been great and the rp flavor is pretty savage. being able to stabilize a party member and sneak attack a target in the same turn while having a range of 70 movement has been awesome.

Edit: I should have mentioned 12 rogue/ 8 cleric.

Yep see that now, it even says it right there in the title.
I would still look at the 12/8 split it adds ASI, but also look at a 14R/ 6C split It gives you blind fighting and 2 uses of your channel divinity.
That's actually a really cool combination that I can't believe I hadn't thought about until I saw your post.
It's ok Ranger, you'll always be cool to me.. Unless druid gets another use for its wild shape charges.
