I have a Tabaxi rogue in my campaign that comes from a family of Bards in his backstory. He's asked to be allowed to use Bard Spells rather than Wizard Spells for his Arcane Trickster build. Is there anyway for me to grant him access to pick from the Bard Spells rather than the Wizard Spells in D&D Beyond?

Unfortunately, no. Well maybe not yet. Right now only builds with official rules is supported.
Ok. There is no way to get this working electronically using D&D Beyond.
I was able to manually enter spells onto the spell list page only during Character Exporting. But when save to my hard drive the added spells did not import.
So a copy could be saved and then the data manually entered after the save using an different .pdf editor. But that spell data is not going to visible to the DM on the D&D Beyond campaign pages. As a DM you would need the saved character .PDF or physical hard copy printout to see the Bardic spell list the character uses.
Still totally doable. just takes a wee bit more imagination and steps so the DM and the player have the same info during game.

The best way to do this is to figure out what spells you want, then homebrew a copy of them. With homebrew spells you can change the class availability, and just add the arcane trickster to the list. Your DM will be able to see the spells and it'll be tracked as normal on your spell list.

Man...I tried to play with this idea but alas the character builder is not offering me anything other than the Thief arc.
I am going to go and look and see if others have had the same difficulty in the bug report section.
Pain Heals, Chicks Dig Scars, Glory Lasts Forever!
Thank you. I just found the answer in the bug reports.
As a free account i gain access to all the cool stuff my friends bought only if I create a character within the campaign I was invited to join.
SO off I go again. One of the great joys in this game is character building. Even if I never use them I enjoy the process.

What background were you trying to use? I have a halfling that is kind of in the same boat
