I personally want to make the Voodoo man from the princess and the frog. Add in a level dip from warlock, either genie or hexblade. Charlatan background. Overall, it fits much better than revived did.

'The Cleverness of mushrooms always surprises me!' - Ivern Bramblefoot.
I like the Phantom Rogue. The name could be more flavorful, but I like its features. I never used the Revived Rogue, so I am not clear on the differences.
Reading about both of them though, I think I'd like to use one in my campaign. It seems like new UA show up pretty fast in DnDBeyond. What do you think the ballpark of when it would show up might be?
My Fiend Warlock gave me a narrative Cart Blanche because he woke up with no memories of his past. I'm working in a story line now, that he will encounter his double, but his double is a Phantom Rogue. Each time the rogue has been revived in the past, a little tiny piece of his soul didn't make it through the transition. The warlock patron has been skimming that remainder for hundreds of years (like moving the portions of a cent in a bank transaction, all adding up) until he had enough to stitch together a soul of his own. Eager for the UA Phantom to be added here, so I can use it. We'll see how it works!
So, what does everyone think?

The Revived never actually felt like it had any connection to being a rogue. The phantom, OTOH, very much does.
And because I've been playing way too much Persona 5 Royal in the last month and a half, I rather want to play a Phantom Thief named Joker now.
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
