Was wondering what those of you who have played the Arcane Trickster have done to get your fun times out of Mage Hand Legerdemain in your games.
Haven't played one yet but will be soon with my current character, and am thinking of ways to use it.
One use that really stands out as a good use for my character will be combining Mage Hand Legerdemain with Disarming Attack from the Battle Master maneuvers. Which would force an enemy to drop their weapon or item being held and snatch it up with MHL.
Some other non-build specific fun uses I have thought of are the classic tying of the shoe laces, sticking a smoke bomb down an enemies pants.
I only really got one good use out of it but almost got killed for it. We were going down a road and some traveling merchants came by one of them had a really nice ring on so I wanted it. I walked up to his horse and started to take his sword out, about halfway, to draw his attention and complement it. All the while I had my mage hand remove his ring and tuck it in my bag. we let them be on their way. Later that day they came back and asked about the ring with some more friends, I got them to believe I didn't have it. However, the ranger of the party decided to tell them it was in my bag. Once again I used mage hand to move the ring I had it drop it behind me and stepped on it. I threw the bag over to them to check it when they could not find it they decided to leave but thanks to my rangers good perception he saw me step on it and told them that too. They eventually found the ring got hostile, no conflict happened after that and they left. Now if my stupid ranger would've kept his mouth shut we would've had a ring of invisibility, for a rogue...ring...of...invisibilty... COULD'VE HELP SO MUCH!!!!!! lol

Hahaha damn that is unfortunate; indeed the ranger could have kept his mouth shut, but perhaps some of that fell on you by letting the party know about stealing it in the first place.
Sort of reminds me of this one group I was in playing a Half Orc warrior one other member of the group was playing a Drow Rogue who was always stealing everything not nailed down, and putting us at risk as he was always braggadocious about it. Eventually one day he stole all the gold from a local leader's house who was an important NPC at the village we were in and was seen doing it.
Tired of him causing problems everyone in the group just gave him up on the spot when questioned, and we all laughed our asses off as the NPC offered us the gold in exchange for subduing the rogue so the village could tar and feather him. We gave him a cut afterwards figuring he had earned it that time.
Well, you see the problem with that is that he always keep his eyes glued to me, or so he says and so was let happen lol. I also had to spend a few days in jail on a separate occasion. I never spoke a word of my thievery, he was just mad because he didn't have anything to shoot or track and I had the whole world to steal! (insert menacing laugh)

Hi everyone,

Hmmm what else?
Planting evidence on someone when guards are searching.
Stealing spell material components.
Spiking the Palidan's drink.
Tipping bottle/statue/bell of shelf for distraction.
Ghost stories...
"Goosing" the queen to get guards in trouble.
Undoing buttons...
