Starting a new campaign and wanted to try something more on the unpredictable side. My character is currently multiclassed as 1 sorcerer (wild magic)/2 warlock (hexblade). So there are two points of confusion that has come about:
Tides and Wild magic have a clause saying 'DM can have you roll on the Wild Magic surge table immediately after you cast a sorcerer spell of 1st level or higher.'
1. What is classed as a 'sorcerer spell'? Say my spell list is
Burning Hands (learnt as a sorcerer)
Charm Person (learnt as a sorcerer)
Shield (learnt as a warlock)
Hex
Will shield reset Tides of Chaos/ trigger a roll on wild magic
2. With the Warlock eldrich invocation 'mask of many faces' granting disguise self will using that trigger Tides of Chaos and Wild Magic?
Some are saying its related to the spell slot some are saying its to do with what list it is from and some are saying it is based on what class you learnt it through.
We have alot of opinions in our group and I wanted to see how other people handle this.
I'm pretty sure it's based on what class you learned it through. I'm not sure how that interacts with Magic Initiate, Spell Sniper, and high elves, though.

Sorcerer spells are spells you've gained from the sorcerer class.
This includes Magic Initiate if you choose the cantrips/spell from sorcerer specifically, since you pick your spells from the sorcerer class. Effectively, your magic comes from being an initiate of sorcery (or a different technique of sorcery if you're already a sorcerer).
In this respect, it should also count for Spell Sniper if you specifically choose your attacking cantrip from the sorcerer class.
It does not include the High Elves' cantrip racial trait which is stated to come from the wizard spell list, and uses Intelligence instead of Charisma. This is a spell they have learned through intellectual pursuits as opposed to mastering their sorcery.
If it's from the warlock class in any way, it's a warlock spell and does not interact with the wild magic features you named.
On the other hand, it's worth remembering these two things:
1) You can cast your sorcerer spells with your warlock pact magic spell slots.
2) When you unlock metamagic at 3rd level sorcerer, you can use metamagic to affect your spells no matter what class the spells come from.
What about if the Wild Magic Sorcerer has no levels of Warlock and takes the Eldritch Adept feat to gain an Eldritch Invocation that allows the casting of a spell from the Sorcerer spell list at will?
You're casting a sorcerer spell of 1st level or higher, Tides of Chaos makes no mention of it taking a slot. I think this works though it's up to the DM both because it says so and because it always is.

It's only a sorcerer spell if you gained it from being a sorcerer. If it's coming from a different source, even if you could have gained it by being a sorcerer, it's not a sorcerer spell.
