So, I have the base dnd beyond, I haven't bought anything, I haven't been given anything, just the basics. I got the app a while a go and then it had a Fairy Race available. I made a Fairy character and kind put the app down since I didn't have time (or friends) to play dnd. Now, my Fairy character has "archived" next to her name and I can't make another Fairy character anymore as it's not available in the races list. Not a big deal, really, I probably have to buy a book or something. Anyway, while revisiting this character I noticed she was a sorcerer and there was a blue "prompt" in her class section for a draconic ancestry. I did some research on the wide web and couldn't find the answer I was looking for, maybe I'm blind or just dumb, I don't know, but I couldn't find it. So, my question is, is I possible for a tiny Fairy to have draconic ancestry? She's level 1 as I've never used her in a campaign (let's be real, I've never even played a campaign, period, but that's not the point), so should I change her class? Or is draconic ancestry possible with a Fairy? Also, what kind of backstory would be best? I'm kind of rebuilding the character with the new information, but I'm at a loss here.
Oh, ok. That answers my question and then some. I wasn't looking for a full on backstory, more along the lines of ancestry type background. Ie, could her grandfather have been a dragon, could there have be a mix of other races to get to that point. It might be a bit messy, but I was thinking a dragon and some humanoid, then the humanoid dragon mix has a child with a half halfling, whose offspring was with a fairy. Again that's messy as far as a genetic line, that's why I wanted to see what else there could be, thanks for your answer. Fey are weird, in almost every telling of them, that is very true, so I'll figure out more of what I want to do to explain her draconic ancestry.
There are Faerie Dragons in the Feywild; these come in a variety of different colours, and while that doesn't affect their damage you could still pick one on that basis then choose a spell or two that fits the theme? e.g- if you go green, take Suggestion? If you don't have access to the monster entry you can read more about them on the Forgotten Realms Fandom site.
Also there are the Mirage Dragons which I like thematically, but only appeared in 4th edition so far. They'd be a lot harder to mash onto a draconic bloodline ancestry type, but would suit a control/psychic damage build.
If you want to expand the elemental types, I released a Draconic Ancestry homebrew sub-class that adds more ancestry options, along with a bonus spell list and some changes to the later level features (which IMO were a bit lacking). Obviously run that by your DM if you'd like to use it; I've been playing a character using it though and think it's balanced well enough.
Anyway, just wanted to give some possible ideas; both the Faerie and Mirage dragons would be very appropriate "patron" dragons for a Faerie perhaps?

I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.

Thanks in advance ☺️
