Seeking an opinion on this feature with regards to the number of creatures you "can see":
At 6th level, you gain resistance to lightning and thunder damage. In addition, whenever you start casting a spell of 1st level or higher that deals lightning or thunder damage, stormy magic erupts from you. This eruption causes creatures of your choice that you can see within 10 feet of you to take lightning or thunder damage (choose each time this ability activates) equal to half your sorcerer level.
A 10' radius circle covers 12 squares on a battle map. How would you all interpret this? All creatures withing a half-circle (6 squares) in front of you? I've been ruling it as any creature a PC could see within 10' of them (full 360-degrees).
I guess this question applies to several other rules with similar language.
There is no facing, that is no “in front of” or “behind” anyone, in 5e in terms of tactical positioning and movement. If the sorcerer is surrounded by 12 creatures they can see, as in not invisible or obscured by fog or darkness or anything like that, then they can all be targeted (keeping in mind the limitation based on the sorcerer’s level).
