I am a fallen aasimar shadow sorcerer that just reached level 6. I’m thinking of multi-classing but am not sure what would be a good fit. I don’t want to go warlock, as we already have a sorcerer taking on warlock. My first thought was fighter, but I’m new to multi-classing. I feel that I’m too large to be anything stealthy and I definitely don’t want to go bard. Any thoughts?
Is there a role-playing reason, or are you just trying to make your character more effective?
If you're doing it for power reason, then a good fit depends on your stats, but consider that you're delaying getting access to your higher-level spells, which are likely going to do more for your effectiveness than a level in some other class.
Agreed, the key question is why do you want to MC? What do you want to add to your sorcerer? I do a lot of ranger - sorcerer mixes but I go ranger first adding a level or 2 of sorceror be for completing 6-9 ranger levels then finishing off with sorceror levels. This works because rangers naturally transition from melee centered to spell focused in tiers 3&4. Doing it in reverse doesn’t really make sense - you don’t really get much for what you lose. If what your after is a few more HPs and access to martial weapons and light/medium armor ranger and fighter are Ok but you might want to look at artificer. You don’t really get the HP or weapons but you do get armor and skills/tools and artificer spell levels round up ( not down like the 2014 ranger)..
