I may not have looked as deeply as I needed to find this answer but here is my question.
Can a Sorcerer (2024) change one or more of its known subclass spells to a different sorcerer spell when they level up.
Example:
Can a Draconic Sorcerer change its known spell Fear to a different Sorcerer specific spell when they level up?
I am going to assume it is up to the DM and I am sure most all would agree. And I wonder if it is a larger question in general for all subclasses that get additional known spells. But it has tickled my mind enough to motivate me to ask the question nonetheless.
Thank you for your kind responses and chastisements on your unkind ones! Muahahaha
You definitely want to check with your DM about that. The rules as written are kind of ambiguous on this point and it seems kind of outside the intent of the subclass-specific "always prepared" spells features to allow you to swap one of them out for a different spell on level up. I think it would be very reasonable for a DM to rule that the "always prepared" spells are, well, always prepared, and therefore can't be un-prepared in favor of a different spell.
in 2024, Sorcerers can NOT swap out spells given to them by their subclass. So for example, a character who takes the Draconic Sorcery subclass can't swap out the Draconic Spell Fear since it is given by the Draconic Spells feature. It says those spells are ALWAYS prepared. Spells selected as part of the leveling process can be switched out one at a time as you gain additional levels.

Yes. It's in the class features, under spellcasting.
In 2024, I believe every class gets to swap out a spell at level up, if not faster.
Okay good, I have a character in mind for a subclass but it doesnt use many of the spells on the draconic spell list.

I misread the question.
The auto-prepared spells you get due to your subclass can't be swapped out.
