I mean, the title pretty much says it all, but I'll elaborate for the benefit of everyone. I'm in the midst of planning my next character for an upcoming campaign set primarily in a city with a heavy emphasis on social and roleplay interaction with forays into combat when needed. With this in mind, I created a Halfling bartender named Quinnthony Bitterspirit who gained Draconic powers after emerging from an attack on their village completely unscathed, albeit with his hair burnt off. I've chosen Fire for the Draconic Bloodline.
This will be my first time playing a spellcasting class and so I'm not experienced with actually building a spell list, and so some advice on choosing them would be helpful. I'd like to have utility in social encounters but still pack some firepower, apologies, in a fight if need be. We're starting at level 5, which makes things that much more complex for me.
At level 5 you will have 2 meta magic options. For social I suggest Subtle Spell. Really nice to cast Charm Person or a Minor Illusion without anyone knowing you cast them. Quicken Spell is a great second option for freeing up your action to cast a cantrip or do something else (like dash away).

Any help would be appreciated, cheers!
First, have fun! Personally I see Sorcerer's as one of the most fun caster classes there are.
For social encounters, I'd look at spells like:
Survivability in combat:
Combat - Firepower:

Thanks! Right now I have:
0 - Control Flames, Fire Bolt, Message, Minor Illusion, Shocking Grasp
1 - Charm Person, Magic Missile, Shield
2 - Aganazzar's Scorcher, Detect Thoughts
3 - Fireball
With the limited spell slots, when should I drop some spells and take on new ones?
