So D4 recently did a build that utilized Paladin, Warlock and Sorcerer levels, building around searing and eldritch smite. The build shown is a 1/9/10 split, but I wanted to do a 1/12/7 build to get devouring blade for three attacks instead of two. This looses 2 5th level spell slots and 3 level 5 spells and a level 4 spell, but also gains an extra level 5 pact magic slot. That being said, I’m only suppose to be using those slots for smiting.
So, my question is do I loose that much from draconic sorcerer by dropping 3 levels in it in exchange for 3 in warlock? If not, why do you suppose D4 chose to do it the way he did? Hopefully this was an ok place to post this; I thought it had the most to do with the sorcerer class.
Spells like True Strike, Smites, Green Flame Blade and Booming Blade do not deal upfront damage. Rather, they improve the damage of a weapon attack. Likewise, these abilities do not involve an attack roll with a spell but rather a weapon attack roll.
As such, they don't interact with Agonizing Blast, Radiant Soul, Innate Sorcery or Elemental Affinity.
The secondary effects (the DoT from Searing Smite, the additional target from Green Flame Blade, the movement damage from Booming Blade) are spell damage that would ordinarily trigger these sorts of features (still no hit roll to use with Innate Sorcery). However, both Searing Smite and Booming Blade do not have spell damage that occurs when you cast the spell, so no dice there. You only get the benefits for Green Flame Blade's additional target.
Unfortunately, you don't even get that. These abilities do not add an amount equal to your Charisma modifier to your damage. Rather, they allow you to use your Charisma modifier with the damage roll. Being able to use your Charisma modifier 20 times is no different than being able to use it once - you can either use it or not. However, since Green Flame Blade already uses your Charisma modifier, it doesn't benefit in any case.
Now, none of this changes the fact that you can stack a regular Smite and an Eldritch Smite. But once you strip out the bad faith rules interpretations, it starts looking a lot less cool - especially once you consider that it's a martial build with tinfoil defenses, limited mobility and anemic spellcasting. At the levels he's talking about playing, it will be painfully outclassed both by the pure casters and the pure martials - your martials will often be able to "Nova" just as hard... and then do it again the next round.

I will just note that there is considerable disagreement on this subject.

Boy I hope so. This not only defeats the purpose of my Palocerer (patent pending) but of my Palock as well.
@VerilyRase and anyone else, what would you recommend as a close substitute? Or would you say just pick a pure martial or caster?

Ultimately, this is the sort of thing you're going to have to ask your DM about. The arguments of us bozos on the internets are as nothing to the power of the table ruling.
