I don't have a full strategy planned out, but once I unlock it, I wanna cast Shadow Blade and just keep throwing it and re-summoning it from a distance. I want to multiclass for the first time, into Bard. Any recommendations?
*Edit: Sidenote, am playing varient human with Lucky feat.
I'm interested in the roleplay aspect around a shadow sorcerer who later on in his life decides to become a bard.
What's his backstory? ^_^
This was an earlier idea I had for the other Shadow Sorcerer I posted about (the melee build one) so they share a backstory.
There was an alchemical sage who was struggling to pay rent. In a desperate attempt to get cash, he entered a pact to finish his project. The project came to life in the form of a living entity from the Shadowfell: a Shadow Sorcerer human. The sage named him 'Domingo,' after a family member he'd lost.
Unfortunately, creating life doesn't pay the bills, so they were kicked out. Domingo grew up on the streets, and his inattentive personality landed him in trouble a lot. (Urchin background.) He learned how to use thieves' tools, among other simple tactics for survival. Soon, his shadow abilities began to manifest, and he learned he could see in the dark. The sage kept a close eye on him, trying to track his progress. Mostly, Domingo was just tired all the time, barely alive at any given moment, heart beating but once per minute, if even that.
Domingo began, eventually, to manifest memories that weren't his own. He'd remember having a dog, but that dog actually belonged to the sage's grandfather. This was what pushed the sage to finally say that Domingo should go adventuring with him, so they did.
The more Domingo's power grows, the more attentive he becomes. The more attentive he becomes, the more alive he feels and seems. He starts forming actual opinions, and stops randomly falling asleep in the middle of casting a spell. Eventually, he wants to do... SOMETHING more with his abilities. Either I'll multiclass him into a Bard, Warlock, Paladin, or something else, depending on the direction I take him.
Ah, so he tries to hold on to life with his other interests (eventually even making music). It must be frightening to turn into a shadow sorcerer. Never thought of that.

Nice idea!
Not quite. He has the memories of the others from the Sage's life, but he is his own person. He was born with his Shadowy traits, but the spells themselves manifested much later.
Depending on what happens in his life, I may multiclass him into a Swashbuckler, or perhaps a different CHA-based caster.
I’ve been wanting to do something like this as well. But I feel like the race is where it should begin. At least that’s how it is for the one I’m planning. I’m creating a Fallen Aasimar whisper bard who will multi class with the shadow sorcerer. He has decided that following his deity makes it so he has no say in his life and ultimately his power comes from them. This breaks his mind and drives him into madness finding a true source of power. So naturally he becomes a bard because in the temple he lived in did not allow any music and wanted to spite them. Throughout his journey he makes several acquaintances who are also in search of a true source of power. He gets a letter from one that has a series of clues and codes that can lead him on his path. This is where he meets up with the adventurers for the campaign. He decides to tag along with these adventurers seeing them as a means to an end. Part of the letter states that they can help him find what he is looking for, as long as they don’t know what his intentions are. So they journey together and he struggles to keep these adventurers alive, not because of the toughness of the path, but due to his own split mind wanting to cause chaos and see them struggle. Eventually something insides him awakens and he finds he has an internal power of sorcery. He must try to keep this to himself however as not to alarm his companions. This is when he multi classes.

Whispers seems like it would mesh well a Shadow Sorcerer.
