I'm playing an 8th level (V) human Storm Sorceress who is totally Adventurer League legal (that's the only venue I've used the character).
Anyway,
Bottom line up front: The known spells for sorcerers are famously tight. I wanted to take the Fly spell for awhile, but it's too much a strain on the other spell priorities. When I hit 9th level, I don't want to waste a 5th lvl known spell on Fly, so I'm thinking of using Telekinesis as a way to provide some controlled 'flight' but also the awesome powers of X-Men such as Jean Grey or Storm. Also, I am attempting to clarify that if I do use Telekinesis to 'fly' that I won't accidentally restrain myself in mid-air.

PS - For Adventurer League's purposes, the only books I'm allowed to pull most of my main PC choices from are the PHB + 1. In this case, Xanathar's Guide to Everything is my +1 (except for my PC Background, which is from SCAG).
If I'm reading the spell correctly then there are two problems.
1. The spell requires concentration
2. It does appear that you would be restrained if you did use it (I could be wrong however)
Overall there would be some problems with using it to fly. However, it could work with some help from the DM or some type of feat/meta magic maybe?
Thanks for the feedback. I'll continue to research this. It'll probably just come down to asking for whomever my weekly Adventurer League DM's ruling on the subject..
On a slightly related note, I noticed that the weight limits for what can or cannot be 'manipulated' by Telekinese will be heavily dependent on whether or not a DM says some X boulder is too-strongly connected a rock formation to be pulled off the formation for instance.
