I have a Mark of Storm Half-Elf Rogue. He is a House Agent and fully invested in becoming an Air-Ship Captain.
I want to add Several levels of Sorcerer to unlock the House Specific Spells and some Lightning, Thunder, Wind, Storm related spells as they become available.
My question is which Sorcerer Origin makes the most sense for this character, and how many levels of Sorcerer could I add before it became too much sorcerer and not enough Rogue.
Dragonic Bloodline - Bronze Dragon is one option, which would be consistent with the DragonMark(although I'm not sure how these work exactly) as well as being consistent with the Lightning Resistance of my Mark of Storms_Rogue. Bonus: AC Class Bonus right away.
Storm Sorcery - Consistent with the Mark of Storms (emphasis on storm) and adds some level 1 spellcasting flight powers (if I plan on casting 1st level spells) Bonus: Level 6 adds a ton of connection to storm control.
My thought is that if I take Draconic Bloodline 3 levels would be enough to make a sorcerer a huge addition to my AirCaptain, if I take Storm Sorcery I need to go 6 levels to make sure I pull in all those really cool traits. I am level 1 now and can just take a couple rogue levels to work through the decision, but I would appreciate the thoughts of others.
My 2 cents. Storm Sorcerers themselves make great air-ship captains. I would be tempted to take 3 levels of Rogue to gain Assassinate then Storm Sorcerer from there. Having the ability to critical hit a surprised enemy with lightning just sounds fun.
Regardless of what archetype of Rogue you considering, I'd still find a way to get 6 levels of Storm Sorcerer - especially if you envision being a privateer or pirate.
i am responding a little late but if you look at the sorcerer spell list, you will find that a lot of mark of storm spells are already
it is really a matter of "is flight more important than being able to not die?" i would say, storm sorcery will do just fine since its abillities, especially at early levels overlap more with the aesthetic of the mark of storm'
whatever desicion you make, you might be interested in the booming blade cantrip, since it might synnergise well with your sneak attack

i am soup, with too many ideas (all of them very spicy) who has made sufficient homebrew material and character to last an thousand human lifetimes
I took a level of Rogue to push back the decision. We are slow rolling through these levels. So I have a little while to make the decision.
Firstly, I mostly just want the cantrips.
Secondly, I want the bonus to AC 14 to 16
Thirdly, I want the HP bonus.
Fourthly, I like the bonus to interactions with Dragons.
That being said. 3 Levels of Draconic would get me Metamagic and not sacrifice my high level Rogue Bonus. Subtle Cast and Distant Cast for a sneaky Rogue.
But the 4, 6 and 8 levels of Draconic Sorcerer are all appealing in their own way.
