You need strength of 13 (and charisma of 13, but you have that) to multiclass as a paladin.
Also, with strength of 10, you won't be able to add any strength points to your attacks or your damage (although you do get to add your proficiency bonus for attacks).
I picked up a warhammer for my sorcerer as well, but I don't use it very often since my sorcerer's strength is also 10. I'm finding that, in most situations, magic options are generally better for my character.

it may be worth your time to consider hexblade warlock if you are planning to melee. Hexblade only requires a 13 char, which you have, and allows you to use your char with a hammer, but even then, it would take a lot for me to MC because of a single weapon. Going paladin though? Even if your DM waives the requirement for 13 str, you won't be able to hit anything with the hammer.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
Sorry, I completely forgot about Hexblade warlock, or I would have mentioned it. But I only recently obtained a copy of Xanathar's Guide to Everything and I haven't fully absorbed all of the options.
That being said, I have to say a sorcerer/warlock multiclass works really well... says the guy who's currently playing a sorcerer/warlock multiclass dwarf.

My hill dwarf sorcerer has the following stats:
Str 10/dex 14/con 15/int 10/wis 13/cha 14
I plan on going paladin, because I found a nice hammer but am wondering if that is a good idea...
