So my party is now level four, and I was wondering if my draconic sorcerer should multiclass soon. This is my first character, and I was wondering if I should take a level or two in rogue. I know this seems like an odd choice, but I do have a reason. Last session I found the Infiltrator's Key and I attuned to it. It's still dormant, but I know if it reaches the awakened state it can turn into a dagger. I don't know for sure if I'm going to keep it or give it to someone else in my party, but if I do keep it, would it be worth grabbing a level in rogue once it is awakened? I already use a dagger fairly often, as for some reason I continuously roll badly on spell attacks. Also, we do probably need a rogue in the party, as our former rogue had to leave due to scheduling issues.
I'd recommend against it. As you go up in levels, your AC is not going to hold up well, and your ASI spent to increase your melee attacks (dex) will not help your magic at all. Levels spent in rogue also slows your spell progression which is rarely a good thing.
I would definitely recommend staying straight sorcerer. The only time I would recommend multi-classing is when you have specific goals and features in mind to add to your character's playstyle.
Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
