I personally recommend a dex bump. That increases your to hit, your damage, your AC, init, and potentially skills. It's always on, always useful. To me that always on is important. I'm not saying the feats are bad picks because they are not, I am only saying I personally value the ASI higher.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
I tend to like persuasion, intimidation, stealth, and acrobatics

I've just created a new character for a campaign, a Dwarf who considers himself a warrior, from a family of warriors, miners, and smiths (but most were not adventurers). Sorcery is just something extra that runs in his family, and he's not overly concerned with it. His family never talked about it much, and he never put much thought to the rumors...
He believes his combat abilities that allow him to do the following: Booming Blade - He's just a really strong and accurate hitter, and immediate subsequent movement by the target hurts a LOT. Mending - He's really good with his hands. Shocking Grasp - He knows how to hit the nerve centers. Sword Burst - He goes BERZERK for a round! Once a day he can do the following: Absorb Elements - He has great reactions. Shield - Again, great reactions!
Stats: Str 17, Dex 14, Con 12, Int 8, Wis 8, Cha 15.
Standard weapon: Warhammer or Battleaxe. You don't have shield proficiency so you don't lose anything by using a versatile weapon. Your goal is Half-Plate armor for the 17AC.
Warcaster at level 4. +1 to Str and Cha at level 8.
Since you're using SCAG for the melee cantrips, I'd suggest Storm Sorcerer from SCAG.

Alright thank you for your recommendation, very helpful! Are there any skills I should pick up to Ben useful on the field of battle or out of it?
acrobatics to escape grapples, intimidation for bluffing maybe?

Alright thanks! Didn’t know that you can use acrobatics to escape grapples
acro or athletics. but you can only grapple with athletics

That makes sense

Well I have the guild agent background (back story reasons) so I will only be able to get one skill from v human
Remember, Page 125 PHB, you can swap out the skills and tools/languages for your background for any other used in a background.
I always take perception and thieves' tools.
This has been a very informative thread, thanks.

I’m using the build we worked on here (not for AL though) this was a fun build to work on
