No, you can't twin a spell with a target of "self" Additionally, you couldn't DW it even if you can because it's not a light melee weapon, and you don't make a melee attack with it.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
yes, you can hold them. However, you can't DW them, because flame blade says it makes a melee spell attack...so you never qualify for DWing.

flame blade doen't target self it target one of your free hand so you can twin cast it targeting your second hand.
that's the way i see it but for the part of melee spell attack, i dont know if you could do both attack each turn? or use your extra attack if you got them
i think it is wrote melee spell attack since you roll using your spell attack bonus not your weapon attack bonus
The spell Flame Blade has listed for Range/Area: Self
Twinned Spell would also require you to target another creature. It cannot duplicate every effect.
Twinned Spell
When you cast a spell that targets only one creature and doesn’t have a range of self, you can spend a number of sorcery points equal to the spell’s level to target a second creature in range with the same spell (1 sorcery point if the spell is a cantrip).

Just wondering. Can you use twinned spell metamagic on the flame blade spell to create two flame blades?

Thank you for the info. Could you by chance then hold a melee weapon in on hand then use flame blade in the other hand
