Long time DM with a chance to finally play for the first time in 10 years. I'm building my dream character that isn't "all powerful" so much as a character I really want to see open up and evolve. Looking for some help and path suggestions beyond what I already have. I expect this character to (should he survive) obtain level 15 give or take.
Character = Fallen Aasimar // Paladin Level 2 - Celestial Warlock Level 3 // Theme is an Aasimar that was captured for a nefarious ritual that cursed its soul and reduced him to a Fallen Aasimar. Just before his death came he was saved by a Sect loyal to the Solar assigned to Torm (Forgotten Realms). The Solar becomes his Celestial Patron and pulls him down the Celestial Lock path instead of him finalizing his Oath. Ultimately his path is to redeem his own soul. Taking Pact of the Chain, he'll be using a former Imp who, didn't quite fit in to the devil life style and found a way to swap sides but is still fighting it's own dark nature.
This guy is going to be a front line hybrid tank/healer. Capable of doing work without being the main source of party damage and skills. Emphasis on FACE skills. The Paladin spells aren't much of concern as they're only Level 1 spell slots. It gets tricky once he starts getting in to level 2 warlock spells that can help tell his story. His Eldritch Invocations are the obvious Agonizing Blast as well as Gift of the Ever-Living one. The 3rd invocation planned is Fiendish Vigor to supplement the tanker aspect.
With that, all suggestions are welcome. Would love the DDB community help me make this guy evolve and ultimately redeem his soul
Eldritch Blast (since you have the Agonizing Blast Invocations)
???
For you second cantrip would you focus on go for a utility cantrip like Friends? Or would you go a Melee cantrip like Booming Blade, or Green Flame blade (which would benefit from the Warlock Radiant soul feature)?
What Fighting style are you look towards? Are you going for the classic tank Protection Fighting Style, or would you pick up Close Quarters Shooter from Unearthed Arcana so you could use eldritch blast in melee combat without disadvantage?
Is there a particular oath your looking to take with Paladin? Oath of Redemption would make a wonder face and Tank between its Channel Divinity and its Aura of the Guardian.

So starting off you have four cantrips.
Celestial Patron
Warlock Cantrips
For you second cantrip would you focus on go for a utility cantrip like Friends? Or would you go a Melee cantrip like Booming Blade, or Green Flame blade (which would benefit from the Warlock Radiant soul feature)?
