Hello everyone, I wanted to create a hexblade melee warlock that liles to cast shadow of Moil a lot, I e tried to search some suggestion online but all i found is a build that prioritize using polearm weapon and polearm master feat, is that a way that i can create this build with a different weapon, like a rapier, and different feats? I like a lot the idea to fight while obscured by dark shadow.
The starting race i think it might be custom lineage for the starting feat, o really would appreciate any help and suggestion.
I would suggest going Fighter 1 first then multiclassing into Hexblade. This lets you grab the dueling fighting style to bump up your damage a little bit to compensate for losing the Bonus Action attack from Polearm Master. The other perk is CON saving throws to help you maintain concentration on your important spells like Darkness and Shadow of Moil a little later on. The starting feat from Custom Lineage I would suggest a CHA half feat so that you can start with 18 CHA off the bat if you are using the point buy method to generate your character. The feat I would at level Warlock level 4 (total character level 5) would be the Warcaster feat. This again improves your ability to maintain spell concentration as well as letting you freely cast your spells even if you have your hands full (eg. if you are using a sword and shield build). This also lets you hit enemies that try to run away from you with Booming Blades. Then at Warlock 8 (total character level 9) you max out your CHA score and the build is pretty much complete giving you the freedom to do whatever you want with the rest of the levels provided your campaign lasts that long.
