If you want a unique Warlock, your Pact Invocation and subclass are the biggest part of that.
Pact of the Blade is really good in the 2024 rules, and is basically essential to playing a Melee Warlock.
Pact of the Chain is more unique, in the sense that it's a buffed familiar which will always be strong (there are also some insane builds that abuse the abilities of some of the familiars).
Pact of the Tome lets you roleplay as a wizard, and is the go to Pact Invocation for Warlocks focused on casting.
As for subclass, pick whatever you think is cool! Honestly, Undead is both strong and flavorful, along with Fiend, Celestial, and Great Old One. The others are strong, but I like these the most. (Also, please don't pick Undying, we don't talk about him).

ya I guess but I believe that the patron really matters when being a warlock like a stack of cards one wrong move and it all falls apart and different pacts can affect your play style and the story you also want to get one you see fitting

Best is a subjective term, what do you mean by best?
Are you after the most powerful Warlock build in combat, the most powerful warlock build in RP, the most unique Warlock build or just the warlock build you'd most enjoy playing? Really need a bit more information as to what you mean by best.
The most powerful warlock build will be Pact of the Blade currently, you can still mix it in with Eldritch Blast and Agonizing Blast but having the ability to use both Melee and Ranged makes it a far more powerful warlock and it's DPR is not to be snuffed at. As for Patron/subclass, I would say Archfey is the strongest DPR wise as the misty steps add even more damage and can be done as reactions, however Fiend is going to have better endurance in combat, GOO is better at RP and inflicting psychic damage while Celestial gives more support/healing options.
Outside of the 2024 PHB there are other subclasses, not going to do a break down of them all, more so when not entirely certain what it is that you're looking for.
just one that's unique yet fits my play style you know what I mean? like a being able to do good melee danmge while also being mainly a spell foces like doing good spell and out putting the most dang in one turn to really be an anoyense to the DM

So you're after a Gish (Melee & Spell) build? I can recommend them but Gish Warlocks aren't unique in 2024, in fact I think most warlocks are a type of Gish due to how prominent Pact of the Blade is.
Depending on how the DM rules on agonizing blast and things like true strike you can go melee through level 11ish without even going pact of the blade. Pact of the blade would be better but not so much better to matter imo. Especially since we are talking one invocation instead of multiple. Which allows you to use the remaining invocations in more interesting ways. And while warlocks are my favorite class I'd point out other classes do what you are asking quite well, so don't limit yourself to warlock unless that is what you want. Bards are going to be a lot better at the spell side and assuming you go valor bard for example you will be solid in melee as well. If you are using old material blade bards rock, as do bladesinger wizards.
I was just going to ask about sub classes and multiy classing but also what about boons also weapons do go a long way
for weapons I thought the bad news and a hex blade path or a anti matter rifle and the hex blade path with a with a dancing sword and a dragon slayer not too sure about boons

sub class wise fey and fiend are good choices for melee locks. Both are pretty tanky as warlocks go(so not tanky but not terrible either). hex blade is using 2014 materials is good the medium armor and shield prof but not great otherwise unless you are going a 2 weapon build.
Multi classing a single level dip into fighter/barbarian etc gets you weapon mastery, fighter also gets you a fighting style, both get you good defense. Personally I kind of like barbarian as people rarely multi it with a caster. But with the limited casting a lock does I think rage can actually work. 2 spells per short rest and rages can get you through the day even when short rests are sparse.

I actually prefer Fighter, since a Warlock 12/Fighter 2 does an action surge for 6 attacks with devouring blade, which is quiet insane, mix that with Spirit Shroud and you're making some creatures regret life decisions. The big issue with Barbarian is that rage doesn't actually give that much, rage damage is based off of strength based attacks, you do need 13 strength for heavy melee weapons and multiclass but else wise you would generally not progress strength past 13, so the strength check advantage isn't that great and so really it's just the resistance to Bludgeoning, Slashing and Piercing damage. Additionally if you go Fey, one of the greatest things about Fey is the Misty Step as a reaction, which you can't do while raging.
At 3 levels, Paladin is also an option, either Oath of Devotion or Oath of Vengeance, since both of them have channel divinities that work just too well with Warlock. Sacred Weapon from Oath of Devotion is adding +CHA on to attack rolls while Vow of Enmity from Oath of Vengeance is an easy source of advantage. But if only talking 1 or 2 level dip, then I'd say fighter.

Oh I think fighter is better overall as well. I just like the feel of barbarian you are merging 2 classes that both use a very limited resource. The rage doesn't add much damage, though if you take it to level 2 it can come with advantage all the time,(i'd only go that route if not using a shield, as you are probably getting hit either way) but yeah its mostly the resistance to most the damage. Which I think is pretty good. And it works great with armor of agythys. While fey and it don't work great together fiend does. 1/2 damage with a pool of temp hit points that bite back is pretty slick, especially with fiend and it refilling the temp hit point pool. And even fey can kind of work if you have long days. The misty steps are there to extend your defenses when you aren't in a rage, they don't work together but it is an additional defense when spells and rage run out.
Add in almost no one mixes barbarian with casters and it can give you a unique vibe.
yikes that's a lot of words lets slow it down a notch and talk about boons

Stats it depends on if you want to use heavy weapons or not.
Personally if going heavy weapon route I'd go before background mods 13 str, 14 dex, 13 con, 8 int, 8 wis, 15 chr take +1 in con +2 in chr feel free to swap around the physical ones a bit so after your back ground it end sup 13, 14, 14. Now if you don't care about ranged weapons like a long bow using eldritch blast there maybe. 14 str, 10 dex, 13 con, 8, int, 12 wis 15 chr when you get heavy weapon mastery you can now wear plate easily as your str bumps to 15. You can technically I think in 2024 still reduce dex to 8 and not change your Ac but i don't see the value add as it impacts dex saves and initiative.
Start as martial of choice that will let you multi to warlock hopefully getting con save. When you get your warlock level 4 feat take war caster, level 8s feat heavy weapon mastery, if going to 20 id take at 12 and 16 warlock is take a 1/2 feat that boosts charisma.
Weapons since you are going heavy, try to acquire a magic heavy ranged weapon like a long bow. Try to find magic two handed heavy melee weapon.
If not going heavy weapon you can probably go standard array with 10 str, 13, dex, 14 con, 8 int, 12 wis, 15 chr or 10, 13, 14, 10, 10, 15 both before background mods. I'd sword and board it, still start as a martial. Without taking heavy weapon mastery now at 8 you can go fey touched or something and get a 20 chr by 12 warlock while taking nice 1/2 feats.
The both assume you re going pact of the blade. Me I'd focus on true strike and go full warlock. 8 str, 13 dex, 14 con, 12 int, 10 wis, 15 chr or technically as I think warlock should be a int class I'd go 8, 13, 12, 14, 10, 15 or i might push int even higher. Not the optimized choice, I just think warlocks should be int based.
If you are able to use older content, there is another route you can go with Pact of the Blade. If you take Hexblade as your subclass, you could dual-wield weapons using your charisma for attack and damage rolls on both weapons (one as a pact weapon, the other as your hex weapon). Take a single level of fighter for weapon masteries and the two weapon fighting style, and you could turn yourself into a pretty potent damage dealer. At fighter 1/warlock 12 with Pact of the Blade, Thirsting Blade, and Devouring Blade, and the Dual-Wielder feat, you would be making 5 attacks each round for 1d6+5 each. Cast Spirit Shroud before you run in to add another 2d8 to each of those hits and you would have a damage potential of 5d6+10d8+25 each round (87.5 average), with the option to tack on an Eldritch Smite when you crit for another 12d8. You will feel like an Eldritch Blender.
For stats on this one I would wear medium armor, and use point buy to get 8/13/15(+1)/8/12/15(+2). For feats take Dual-Wielder (Dexterity +1), War Caster (Charisma +1), and then bump your Charisma to 20 after that. You could drop your Wisdom to 10 to get your Strength to 10 as well, but I like the higher Wisdom for saves, and Strength won't benefit you at all with this build.
