Can a multi-class warlock use spell slots from other classes to fuel eldritch smite?
The 2024 mutli-class rules say that “you can use the spell slots you gain from the Spellcasting feature to cast Warlock spells.”
Does that also mean you can use spellcasting feature slots to “cast” eldritch smite?
Eldritch smite says that “you can expend a Pact Magic slot” to trigger eldritch smite. So, does that limit it to pact magic slots even when multi-classing or does the reference to pact magic slot extend to spellcasting feature slots when multi-classing like warlock spells do?
IMHO Given the fact that it explicitly mentions the Pact Magic slot, I would say that you sacrifice a Pact Magic slot to enhance damage you do with your Pact Weapon. It's not a casting, but use of Eldritch power, so Pact Slots only.

Agreed. If the intent was to allow the use of Spellcasting spell slots too, it would just say "expend a spell slot" instead. There are plenty of features across various classes that do work this way — using Pact Magic and Spellcasting spell slots interchangeably — but this isn't one of them.

Correct... Eldritch Smite is not a spell, it's a feature: An Invocation that lets you expend a Pact Magic slot to do more damage.
Would it be game breaking to allow spell slots as well? No, but... I most likely would not allow it as a DM.
