So since I love Warlock, I can't stop theory crafting this class. It is so versatile and open-ended about everything from the spells to the backstory. You can focus on all kinds of things: Healing, Full Casting, Melee Fighting, Ranged Fighting, Deception, Skill Focused, and many more. I have three characters here that I would love to explain and just show off. PS: I have not yet played any of them.
Name: Oren Engel
Archetype: Hexblade
Race: Protector Aasimar
Gender: Female
Background: Sailor
Starting Weapons: Spear, Handaxe, 2 Daggers
Cantrips: Eldritch Blast, Minor Illusion
1st Level: Armor of Agathys, Wrathful Smite
Pact: Pact of the Blade (Battleaxe)
Invocations
lv 2 - Agonizing Blast, Devil's Sight
lv 5 - Thirsting Blade
lv 7 - Tomb of Levistus
lv 9 - Eldritch Smite
lv 12 - Lifedrinker

Mystic Arcanum:
6th - Investiture of Stone
7th - Crown of Stars
8th - Dominate Monster
9th - Feeblemind
Patron: Valhalla
She was claimed from birth by Valhalla as one of the 12 Valkyries that protect the land. She is Neutral Good and originally was a Viking style raider in her military. Other than that she is a righteous fighter for the forces of good and abhors fiends and undead
Generally, I love the fact that summoning the pact weapon takes an action and entering her Radiant Soul ability takes a bonus action. So, on her first fight at third level she uses an action to summon the weapon, bonus action to sprout her wings and flies into the air where her enemy can't reach her without ranged before she dives in to fight in melee on the next turn.
lv 2 - Agonizing Blast, Mask of Many Faces (Change to Master of Myriad Forms at level 15)
lv 5 - Devil's Sight
lv 7 - Voice of the Chain Master
lv 9 - Sculptor of Flesh
lv 12 - Whispers of the Grave
lv 15 - Chains of Carceri
lv 18 - Shroud of Shadows
Mystic Arcanum:
6th - Mass Suggestion
7th - Plane Shift
8th - Feeblemind
9th - True Polymorph
Patron: Asmodeus
His premise is that he is working for his "father" and eventually schemes to overturn him, but those who know his true name don't fully know his intentions with his name as his "father" gave him this name when he formed the pact with him.
Name: Set
Archetype: The Great Old One
Race: Human, Variant (Actor Feat)
Gender: Male
Background: Spy
Starting Weapons: 4 Daggers

1st Level: Hex, Dissonant Whispers

lv 7 - Sculptor of Flesh
lv 9 - Whispers of the Grave

9th - True Polymorph
Patron: Tharizdun the Chained God
This character is bascially my idea of playing a sadistic character who actually is a bigger threat than some of the enemies the party fights as he makes innocent individuals within the towns they visit disappear and can appear and sound like those he kills.
Oren Engel is my favorite. But how do you account for the Hexblade "pact with a mysterious entity from the Shadowfell" in your backstory? I'm guessing you plan to reflavor around Valhalla instead of shadowfell? Celestial Warlock would also work.
Well, I feel that Valhalla in this sense is more about the weapons itself. The weapons are semi-god like entities that choose their warlocks and therefore make the pact. The pact maker of the Hexblade doesn't have to be from the Shadowfell. Also, Valhalla is just really the best name I could come up with for the idea behind this character as she is part of an elite group, but she is just the newbie in training and she will eventually join them to fight on the planes. Her whole patron idea is fluid around her weapon being a powerful artifact that chooses her because of her bloodline. Hence all of the Valkyries are Protector Aasimar.
Oh I'm glad someone is still looking at this from so long ago. I've moved on from these characters, but I still am a Forever DM so their spirit still lives on.

I can’t get enough of this I keep coming back to it and adjusting things a little for different builds to make npcs
