hello everyone i have started a new campaingn with my friends and i have decided to play a genie bladelock with the 2024 rules and i would like to know if its good or if theres something i need to know
just to keep clear the only diference at the subclass is that i would get it at level 3 thx sorry for bad english
The Genie subclass is from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. There is no 2024 version of it (yet).
"bladelock" is just a slang term for a Warlock who has chosen Pact of the Blade (as a Pact Boon in the 2014 rules, or as an Eldritch Invocation in 2024) and focuses on melee weapon combat.
I don't think the genie has any particular synergy with blade pact. (though being able to melee flying opponents at 6th isn't bad)
That said, it should work fine. 24 blade pact doesn't need support from your patron to be functional. There's nothing that'll get in the way of your fun.
Yeah no great synergy for it, I'd consider Marid for the type. Blur can help in close combat and if in melee you will be in a good spot to drop cone of cold. its resistance is meh, but honestly i never really got hit with clubs the time i played a dao genie lock. And its gimmick spike growth probably wont be as applicable to you in melee. though i do think wall of stone is amazing. So I think its okay to stray from the fan favorite dao and go with one of the others where i think Marid might be the best options for a bladelock.
