After the amazing developments we saw in Tales of the Valiant: Wizards has alot of inspiration for new invocations that actually bridge the gap between the mid spellcasting of Warlocks and "full" casters. Since Ravenloft (sigh) had ZERO invocations for arguably, DnD's most spooky character, I'm hoping that the two new magic books (reference and adventure) due out later this year will actually add invocations to the game.
Personally one idea I'm hoping to see is spellcasting invocations to smooth out the casting curve:
- invocations that allow you to use a spell or spell-like power a number of times per day (doesn't have to be infinite).
- invocations that allow a lock to cast a spell (/cough polymorph) once per day.
- invocations that provide multiple spells, once per day - just look to Baldur's Gate 3.
... any other ideas? Wizards, please take note and thank you.
I’d like to see them do this for level 6 and up spells since there’s no other way for warlocks to get them, unlike polymorph that could be on a subclass spell list. Make them a level 12 or 15 requirement or something.

Warlocks already have a feature called Mystic Arcanum that pretty much does exactly this, unless I'm misunderstanding what you're suggesting.

yes but why. mystic arcanum gives 6th-9th level once a day powers. what would this add as an invocation do they need more once a day slots at those levels, those are kind of sparse even for full casters. now a invocation that gave them access to the wizard list while picking their arcanum might work as holy eff did they get the crap side of spell lists.
Love this idea and it is sorely needed especially Tier 3 & 4 support for Pact of the Tome and Chain playstyles. Bladelock triple attack is so good, it makes not picking it feel like you are deliberately nerfing your warlock lol.
Thoughts I’ve had to improve Chain & Tome-
(Pre-requisite: Level 3, Pact of the Tome) Book of Ancient Secrets- allows you to select from any ritual spell equal to your pact Magic slot level whenever you summon your Book of Shadows.
(Pre-requisite: Level 5, Pact of the Tome) Patrons Gift- Once per long rest, you can cast one spell from your Subclass spell list at base level without spending a spell slot.
(Pre-requisite: Level 12, Pact of the Tome) Arcanum Library- Whenever you finish a long rest, you can change one of your Mystic Arcanum choices and when you do, you can choose from the Warlock or Wizard spell list.
(Pre-requisite: Level 19, Pact of the Tome) Arcanum Surge- Whenever you use your Magical Cunning feature to regain Pact Magic spell slots, you may also recharge your use of your 6th level Mystic Arcanum feature.
(Pre-requisite: Level 7, Pact of the Chain) Chainmaster’s Protector- When you fail a saving throw while within 30 ft of your familiar, your familiar can expend its reaction to allow you to reroll the saving throw and add a bonus to the roll equal to your Charisma modifier (min 1). You must finish a short rest before using this ability again.
(Pre-requisite: Level 12 , Pact of the Chain) Chainmaster’s Ferocity- Your familiar can attack twice whenever it takes the Attack action.
(Pre-requisite: Level 9, Pact of the Chain) Chainmaster’s Boon- As a Magic Action, you can expend a Pact Magic spell slot to empower your familiar with arcane power. Your familiar immediately gains Temporary Hit points equal to 4x your warlock level. For the next minute, they gain a bonus to their AC, Ability checks, Saving Throws, To Hit and Damage rolls equal to your Charisma Modifier (min 1). You must finish a long rest before using this feature again.

they will probably rehash old invocations first, while we may eventually get truly new ones I expect it will be a while.

pronouns: he/she/they
I think they mean level 6 spells as invocations.

Just a few thoughts.
