Hey I'm currently playing Wild Beyond witchlight campaign with some mixed in homebrew. We're currently level 6 but last night we level up twice due to some hard encounters and puzzles in the Feywild. So im looking for advice on my character. Im a Eladrin Fighter 1/ Archfey Warlock 5 bladelock with pact of the chain, agonizing blast, magic int. And thirsting blade. At level 4 i took warcaster increasing my cha. My current pact weapon is a longsword. What would the best path for a teleporting striker build ? Going for a Alucard/ Nightcrawler playstyle. Any advice is welcome ! Thank you.
I assume you are carrying a weapon and shield since you are using a Longsword, so I would recommend the usual suspects for a Bladelock - Thirsting Blade, Devouring Blade, Eldritch Smite, and Lifedrinker.
If you don't have another source of constant Temp HP, Fiendish Vigor is not terrible for grabbing temp HP between fights with False Life.
For a stealthy striker, you also might want to look at One with the Shadow, which lets you cast Invisibility on yourself when you are in Dim Light or Darkness.
My last recommendation would be to consider Repelling Blast to use with a weapon cantrip like True Strike or Booming Blade. The ability to push enemies back 10' can come in very handy, and on Booming Blade the push makes them take extra damage to move back within melee range.
I would recommend using Summon Fey alongside you as the Fey also teleports with you every round and can also create a small darkness area that can ben be useful.
I would only consider Lifedrinker invocation if you need the survivability part. There are several good invocations that I would select before that one.
I always thought Lifedrinker would be a bridge between the Warlocks d8 hp dice and a Fighetrs d10. From a BladeLock perspective if you're tanking then you're down on frontline hp compared to fighters averaging 1hp per level difference. The free action to use your hit dice in combat was a good counterpoint to having a lower hp max. I haven't played one (yet) though so unsure how it works in practice.
@CaptainKaru - can you give more details on invocations more useful to a tanky bladelock, and any gameplay notes on the choices. My next char up will almost certainly be one of these so interested to know the data behind your comment.
... Thanks!
