You can cast False Life on yourself without expending a spell slot. When you cast the spell with this feature, you don't roll the die for the Temporary Hit Points; you automatically get the highest number on the die.
When casting this spell at a higher level, does the spell get boosted as well? Would I gain 15 points at level 5?
Casting the spell with a higher-level spell slot increases the amount of temp HP it grants as explained in the spell description. However, the benefit from Fiendish Vigor where it maxes out the amount of temp HP instead of rolling the dice only applies when you cast the spell with this feature, not when you cast it with a spell slot.
If you use a spell slot you get multiple dice and no auto max #.
Not quite, not quite, in the 2024 PHB, False Life says 2d4 + 4 Temporary Hit Points, so if Fiendish Vigor says you get the maximum value, then that means (at least in what I read), the maximum of 1d4 is 4, so if you have 2d4 + 4 in the spell, using the invocation, you will get 4 + 4 + 4 or 12 Temporary Hit Points. If you choose to use a spell slot, though, then you get 2d4 + 4 for a Level 1 spell slot, 3d4 + 4 for a Level 2 spell slot, 4d4 +.4 for a Level 3 spell slot and so on. The invocation gives a warlock the chance to absorb one minor attack without being incapacitated. The warlock can cast this invocation without burning a spell slot.

No, that's not how the scaling works for False Life. Upcasting it does not add any extra dice; it adds a flat 5 temp HP for every additional slot level above level 1. So, at level 2 it's 2d4+9, at level 3 it's 2d4+14, at level 4 it's 2d4+19, etc.

Sorry, what I should have emphasized was that when False Life is cast as the Eldritch Invocation Fiendish Vigor, it gives the warlock 12 Temporary Hit Points. Lesser mages such as wizards, sorcerers, bards and strange casters like Arcane Tricksters have to burn a spell slot to get 2d4 + whatever Temporary Hit Points.

Please read the spell description in the 2024 PHB: it says 2d4 + 4. The Fiendish Vigor description in the 2024 PHB may well have been copied over from the 2014 PHB without changing the word "die" to "dies" or "dice". You get the maximum of 2d4, which is 8 and 2d4 + 4 is 12
Addendum: The False Life spell for the 2014 PHB says "1d4 + 4" while the False Life spell for the 2024 PHB says "2d4 + 4". So, the Fiendish Vigor eldritch invocation was indeed copied from one edition to the next edition without a review of which words were being used.

Yes, I understand. My question is whether the pact always casts it at level 1.If you use the invocation you get the one dice.
If you use a spell slot you get multiple dice and no auto max #.
The Invocation always casts it at level 1. When spells are cast without a spell slot, they're cast at their minimum level unless otherwise specified.
