wasn't it to supposed to be released with unearthed arcana? will we ever get the new hexblade?
No finalized 5.5e version of the Hexblade has been published (yet).
Two different playtest versions have been released via Unearthed Arcana already: one in the "Horror Subclasses" UA from May 2025 and one in the "Arcane Subclasses" UA from June 2025.
If you meant "Arcana Unleashed", that hasn't been released yet (it's due in a couple months) but based on this post it does not include a Hexblade subclass. There was never any official word that it would.
("Unearthed Arcana" is the program whereby they put out pre-release playtest versions of stuff to get feedback from the community. "Arcana Unleashed" is a new sourcebook coming out in September 2026. These names are going to cause a lot of confusion.)
Yeah all i think you are getting for warlocks in the new book is the Vestige Warlock, it seems fairly powerful i just do not like subclasses that are built around a single feature as much as it was. Not sure if they eased up on it after the playtest, but everything was tied up in the pet you summoned. I had a similar issue with the elemental one they recently came out with, it was all tied up around the elemental nodes.
And imo the vestiges pet should have got some pact of the chain style invocations. also you should be able to pick any cleric domain, not just one from a small list. But war looks pretty bad ass for a pact of the blade warlock.
which means this might work out fairly well for someone who wanted the gish mechanics of hexblade.

Honestly my biggest complaint with 2024E is the total lack of additional warlock invocations. Don’t get me wrong, new subclasses are great but updated invocations for the previous sourcebooks are sorely needed. Pact of the Chain and Pact of the Tome have ZERO tier 3 & 4 invocations and Pact of the Blade has one Tier 3 invocation. More are needed desperately.
Apparently the response to the Hexblade Unearthed Arcana was extremely negative so its shelved for the time being. That is probably a good thing. We don't need bad updated subclasses. My wish for 2027 is to drop the recycle rate from 75% on subclasses to less than 25%. We need new stuff.

Big agree with most of this. New stuff is definitely needed which is why I am actually happy with Vestige Patron. It seems flavorful, mechanically interesting and fulfills a cool thematic niche. I just want the same treatment for Invocations especially for Tier 3 & 4 support. Too many folks seem to think its ok for warlock to just be essentially the multiclass class but I am always of the opinion that no multiclass should be substantially more powerful than a straight class. Invocations currently fall off very hard in power level after level 9. We have exactly 2 invocations that require you to be higher than level 9 yet you gain 3 more invocations over that class progression. And one of those two invocations has a pre-requisite that requires 2 other invocations. We desperately need Tier 3 & 4 invocation support, both generally, and at least 2 more invocations that have a similar progression path for Tome & Chain pacts as Devouring Blade serves for Blade Pact.
