in the world of warcraft book. Not sure how I feel about that. I want new invocations but them being locked behind world of warcraft does not sit right with me. when they are locked behind FR books it feels more generally applicable to me and I rarely have to sand off any edges on feats, spells, invocations etc to get them to fit into any setting. and most of the book is fairly neutral and easily translated to any setting. I don't get the feeling the wow book will be the same. hopefully i am wrong.
but at least we are finally getting some new invocations, it only took a couple years for it to happen but it happened.
Unfortunately this is the same thing as the Swashbuckler and two other old DnD subclasses being added to the book. We'll have to see what they look like; if they're generic enough, then you can just strip whatever Warcraft flavor they have and use them in your games

Be glad that it only took a couple of years. There are game systems out there that literally go decades. I play Starfleet Battles with is a tactical game based on TOS. They have modules with new ships, systems, rules etc that very occasionally come out. There was a module called X1 that came out in the early 80's with the promise of X2 'later'. Every year the story is 'we are going to try and get the module done and out to the fans'. It's 2026 and we're still waiting for the X2 module.
One of the really cool aspects of D&D is that it can be altered and tailored to fit just about any type of campaign and setting. I would imagine this will be the same :)
I care far more about seeing concrete movement on the alleged "Site Overhaul" that is going to allow them to actually make the 2024 invocations work properly, allow for backwards compatible invocations on a 5.5e character sheet AND finally deliver the functionality of homebrew invocations. They will get no more money from me for books until they make the existing content work properly.
yeah id prefer that as well. but they can't sell you that so i don't think they are even trying. the only way they get put back in is if they release them in a new book.
