Hello, This is my first time creating a warlock, and I was looking for some suggestions. His background is somewhat odd, so I couldn’t think of any patrons.
So the story begins with my Warforged getting trapped underground with a large group of other people. Days pass by and he began hearing voices in his head. The voices began telling him that they can help him out and that freedom is so close a t hand... he just needs to do something for them first. The voices tell him to kill the other people trapped with him, and in return they will free him. He agrees, and after killing the others, he finds himself freed. He later finds he has been granted new power.
Hello. I'm not sure if what I did will help you, but my DM agreed to allow my patron to be the Fiend, except the Fiend was a Bronze Dragon instead of a demon or devil. The character is a dragon born warlock and the fiend spell list matches well with dragon based lore...fireball, flame-strike etc. It is also a "loop hole" so to speak. The fiend of course is evil but the bronze dragon is good. So my character can be chaotic good without the bane of evil lurking over him and demanding he complete evil tasks. The party is made up of primarily good folk including a goody-two shoes cleric who seeks out and destroys evil. #partyharmony!
Your patron has to be evil and it has to hate and enjoy random slaughter. Either an evil archery, or a demon fiend, or one of the great old ones who wants to kill humanity.
Flavor it any way you like. The Fiend wants you to do something evil. The Archfey has enjoyed seeing the desperation, and wants to see what happens. The GOO . . . . well, you never know. The Hexblade is charged by the slaughter. You could even go Celestial; those poor squishy people were infected with some horrible condition from being trapped underground, and your character killing them was an act of mercy, and you released their soulds from torment.
You can flavor most patrons for most situations. Find mechanics you like, and be creative.
