So I am making a 3rd level warlok tank. I was looking at fiend patron, and I noticed that it's first ability is great for tanking. So I made a warlok that is 2 levels in warlok fiend, and 1 level in favored soul sorcerer(Death domain). This lets me still use armor and gain 2 extra spell slots for hex. I know one thing about my DM is that he loves multiple enemy's and the hexblade is only good against your one target. What do all of you think?
I was more talking about the other class features, like your Hexblade's curse, Armor of hexs, and your 14th level ability that I forgot the name of all go against one creature. Hex can be used against more than one though.
True, I like hexblade, don't assume that I don't. But the first 3 ability of warlok of the fiend all make you a better tank, but only the 1st and 10th ability of hexblade helps you tank. I am not looking for pure damage, but more being able to to take hits.

It is not, but it is in the DM guide. I think.
I'm not sure what that means? Death Domain is a Cleric subclass listed in the DMG, and even that subclass only grants proficiency with Martial weapons and has nothing to do with armor proficiency. Death Domain - Cleric
As to your question I think Hexblade is a tankier subclass than Fiend in general. Medium armor and shields with a +2 dex modifier puts you at 18-19 AC without magic items, plus you can learn the shield spell from your expanded spell list as a Hexblade. Multiclassing and getting the spellcasting feature would also be cool to give you some extra shield casts per day if you wanted that.
Also if your intent is to tank I'd assume you want to be in the front-line in which case Hexblade is going to be vastly superior to Fiend. I'd think just casting Armor of Agathys on yourself (which wouldn't stack with Fiend's Dark One's Blessing) and just try and pull as many enemies towards you as possible. If they hit you then you have some temp HP they need to burn though, you deal a bit of damage back, and your AC is high enough they might not hit you every time.
And it gives proficiency with light and medium armor, shields, and simple weapons.
Assuming your DM allows that, which I personally would double check since I don't believe its official content, Then Fiend is probably fine. Can you provide a reference for the subclass for my satisfy my own personal interest?

When the DM smiles, it is already to late.
Why is Hexblade only good against one target? Your Hexblade weapon works on all targets. Do you mean the Hex spell?

14th ability lets you change target of hexblade curse. Hex on one target, hexblade curse on another. Then attack them.

In that case, hexblades can wear medium armour and shields. Although the first 3 abilities are about defence for fiend.

Yea, in the character I made him take a level in favored soul sorcerer to gain armor proficiency and extra spell slots for hex.

I don't know of any sorcerer subclasses that grant armor proficiency. Can you link what you're using?

I don't think it's on DDB.

It isn't. I have the book in a real copy. There is no thing called favoured soul in it.

Sorry, the favored soul sorcerer that I have lets me choose a divine domain and learn the spells that domain gives me.

That seems like a really strong subclass example.
