So my warlock is level 3 atm and I am trying to think about what feats would be good or if i should go ability scores so here is info on my character.
Pact: Tome Patron: Archfey Play style: Using mainly eldritch blast re flavored as a gravity based spell then using a mix of gravity/time magic mixed with some utility spells such as magnify gravity, misty step, and hex so a pure caster setup barely ever doing attacks with weapons using CC and tactics to fight.
So as for what I can think of I was thinking maybe War Caster<Moderately Armored<Defensive Duelist<???
War Caster: So I can have a shield to get more AC since I am at only 14 AC s this would bring it up to 16 allowing me to still cast VS spells, It would also help with concentration con checks to keep an effect going, then it also allows the use of eldritch blast as an attack of opportunity which is a pretty nice bonus.
Moderately Armored: This would give me access to some medium armor and shield prof
Defensive Duelist: would grant me the option to wield a finesse weapon and when i am attacked I can react to add my prof bonus to my AC to increase his survival since he already barely got away from a Minotaur at 1hp after a single hit... and we don't have a healer btw which is why he has spare the dying to at least give us a chance to save someone from dying... he kinda had to carry the kobold in the group to safety during a fight with a lot of rat swarms and giant rats.
Any thoughts or advice? His story RP wise is that he is on the run seeking to save his people from those who dethroned his family and his pact is with a sylph who delved into time/gravity magic that he grew up with as his only friend he would visit in the forest after saving her from a magic seal that imprisoned her.
You can't use a shield as a warlock, unless you are hexblade, and the only finesse simple weapon is the dagger. What race are you and what stats do you have? It's hard to say without them.

'The Cleverness of mushrooms always surprises me!' - Ivern Bramblefoot.
Actually you can use a shield with war caster and moderately armored since MA gives shield prof and WC makes it so you can do S with shield and weapon leaving out only spells needing M components but that can be solved by just putting away the weapon if needed. So with the two a warlock could use a weapon and shield while casting eldritch blast and some other cantrips/spells not requiring material components.
But yes dagger is the only option since I went tome instead of hex but as I said I use my melee weapon like 0.1% of the time since enemies rarely get to me and even then I have many tools to escape on my turn so I figured the extra AC from holding a dagger with defensive duelist would be worth it to save me from bolts and arrows.
But still wasn't sure if there were better options than these things for the way my character plays.
Stats are S10, D15, C11, I14, W11, C18 (the 14 in Int rather than con is an RP reason not a min max reason due to his backstory and upbringing)
Race is Dragonborn variant from the explorers guide to wildmount the Draconblood which get adv once per long rest on a persuasion or intimidation check, darkvision, 2int/1char, they get the dragon breath but they don't get the resistance from this feature, other than these they get everything else dragonborn get.

1st- I would argue it's too early for you to consider feats since your Charisma is not 20.
2nd- Warlock should be far away from the action and minimizing the need for AC.
3rd- War Caster does not grant you the shield proficiency. It lets you cast spells while holding a shield IF you are already proficient with a shield.

I said the shield prof comes from Moderately armored....also yeah was thinking more ac over getting to 20 cha because of that time I was almost insta killed only surviving due to the enemy rolling badly.
our party is my warlock, a str ranger, an arcane trickster, and a revived rogue so I just wanted to make sure 20 cha or more than 14 ac was all.
You can't take two feats at once. So you'd be wasting one feat till you get the other one at 8th level. Just take a charisma boost.
I’m aware... I was mentioning the order I was thinking of getting them planning ahead is all. I am just worried for my survival after almost being killed in one hit since we lack a healer and our frontline is a str ranger while we lack the gold income yet to really afford potions. In our current city a potion costs roughly 10gp each while after 4sessions we managed to scrape up 100gp all together which we still need to buy new equipment and such.
If you're going to take a Feat, use one that raises your charisma, such as Fey Ancestry, Elven accuracy, or Actor, if it fits - ideally you get to 20 Charisma. If you're looking at improving your EB, I would consider spell sniper, as it extends to the range of all your spells and gives you an extra ranged to-hit cantrip.
You're a Tomelock. And that means the best caster among Warlocks. I'd maximize that.

If you are a elf or half elf, you could take elfish accuracy and combine it with greater invisibility (Archfey expanded spell list). This leads to a devastation combo.

DM: So, you doomed the world by betting on dinosauer races instead of doing a quest.
Players: But we got money! Now we can do whatever we want.
The only feat I'd likely be considering before an ASI would be elven accuracy, and I'd probably only do that at 4 if I already had a 17 charisma.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
Bumping up Charisma is nice, of course, but if it's already 18 you've got plenty of time for that; grabbing War Caster will actually give you capabilities you didn't have before (although the Opportunity Attack feature probably won't crop up much, if at all.) And since you're a Warlock, keeping a concentration spell going that you've spent a precious spell slot on is pretty important.

You are literally the first person not to recommend a dragonborn elven racial feats, told me to just get more charisma after i am already at 18, or attempted to correct me on things I never said so thank you soooo much!
Also thanks yeah decided on getting war caster and instead of moderately armored I may 1 level dip into a twilight cleric since my DM gave me the okay which gives me prof in everything as well as unlimited dark vision for me and even temp for allies plus other shit after level 5 to make more use with war caster and get more tools.

Good luck and have fun. The reason so many folks mentioned the charisma upgrade is because concentration doesn’t really matter if your spell DC is so low that most things make their save.
Adds to your to-hit for your bread and butter eldritch blast, not to mention the damage, too. Warcaster's nice, but I value ASI higher in most cases. Clerics running spirit guardians at close range are one of the few times I'd look at warcaster over an ASI.

Just to be clear, it helps with spells that have attack rolls not all spells. So, if spell has a DC to be effective, the range is not extended.
When you cast a spell that requires you to make an attack roll, the spell’s range is doubled.
Your ranged spell attacks ignore half cover and three-quarters cover.
You learn one cantrip that requires an attack roll. Choose the cantrip from the bard, cleric, druid, sorcerer, warlock, or wizard spell list. Your spellcasting ability for this cantrip depends on the spell list you chose from: Charisma for bard, sorcerer, or warlock; Wisdom for cleric or druid; or Intelligence for wizard.
