I'm envisioning a lawful evil, lawyer-type character who deals in contracts and bargains. Probably a tiefling for race. The two class choices that I think would work best for the concept would be a college of eloquence bard or a fiend patron warlock, but I can't decide which one would fit better or if I ought to go with a multiclass. What do you guys think?
Hmm I think the the fiend pact warlock works from a story perspective really well, but the eloquence bard works better from a mechanical perspective. I would probably multi-class as I really like the Devil's Advocate style character (if you haven't seen that movie, I would highly recommend it as inspiration for your character concept) and fiend pact is just perfect for it. I also like that Eldritch Blast + Agonizing blast and Hex can be used to prop up a build that is otherwise built heavily towards concept and out of combat RP. If you're sticking to these two classes I also wouldn't want to give up silver tongue, so I like the MC a lot. I'm a bigger fan of dipping 3 levels into warlock than most, but the classic 2 level dip is probably best.
I'll also throw Order domain Cleric as another option even though you didn't list it. Their sixth level ability is literally called embodiment of law. Works quite well as a single class for your lawful evil lawyer. Could make for a spicy build multiclassed with Fey Wanderer ranger for an alternative wisdom based approach to social skills as well. Not perfect for your lawful evil vibe, but I think a capricious fey lawyer would be super fun to play. I'd go with the new custom race for this one and come up with a fey-touched race the way that tiefling are fiend-touched or aasimar are celestial-touched.

I'd actually suggest going Genie Warlock. A fun little quirk of the new subclass, along with the new Pact Boon, is that you can actually work on making said contracts and bargains yourself. You even get Limited Wish at 14, and Wish at 17, while before that, you can use a talisman to give some minor boons to the person holding it.
You won't be as good of a talker as a bard (no Expertise), but you can actually deliver when it comes to contracts.

Well, in my case, I kind of had a similar idea, but I went for Hexblade 1/Elloquecen 5 then take another level on Warlock whenever I think I would need the evocations.
I also too the Telepathic, fey touched [command], magic initiate [wizard]/or Ritualist feat.
For race, I went Mark of the Storm Half-elf. They get some nice spells options to pick from.
The idea would be to supply the party with bardic inspiration, the summon creatures, to fight for you, while you spam save/suck spells.

Ooh, both very interesting ideas!

im doing a similar thing with Archfey warlock 15/5 eloquence bard. Its difficult to establish the correct balance of each class but worthwhile!
