A klein bottle, they are more of an oddity than a practical storage device which is why I think it's a good solution. I think it's particularly clever for a vessel because it's a object that can only exist in 4 dimensional space, but can be represented with a model in 3 dimensional space, implying that it doesn't have the same physical dimensions as it visually appears to.

So a klein bottle is a simplified TARDIS? "It's bigger on the inside" and all that.
You could also use a medieval whoopee cushion - a preserved bladder from a dead ox or monster.
Or a buckeye with the seed removed.
An unhatched ratite (large flightless bird) egg with a hole drilled into it and the contents removed. Or even an unhatched dragon egg if you want to get exotic.
A pop-up book would be a whimsical option with some interesting potential. Imagine opening it up and the pop-up illustration reflects the state of the interior space.
I use a hollowed out acorn shell. It can be left anywhere without fear of being stolen, it's common enough that my party can leave it somewhere (like a place we need to get back into, they leave, I stay in the vessel, then unlock the door etc.) it can be left in a corner or in a plant so I can spy for a few hours then they can retrieve me.
The druid can wear it as jewelry if invited somewhere and the want to bring backup too 😁
On my old genie warlock, I took Pact of the Talisman, and had the talisman be a necklace with a puzzle hidden in the pendant that you had to solve in order to open the vessel. Felt nice thematically to have them be the same item.

I had the idea that there should be some other types of vessels for the Genie warlock to use. Some seem more favorable than others.
Here is my list. Originals are included for completeness.
Please feel free to add as you see fit.
I combine it with the Inheritor background and suggest making it into a minor magical item, which changes depending on the story.
Good thought!
Some more ideas for the list:
* Clog (the shoe, not the annoyance in your sink)
* Music box
* Head of a Warforged (since they don't technically need to eat or even have a brain in their head)
* Special chamber built into your armor
A Top Hat, good for magicians AND cartoon snowpersons.
A statue of a Falcon (Maltese, of course)
A beer bottle that never runs out of Bud Light (because there's always a price to magic).
A magic eight ball that only ever provides unhelpful but funny answers when you shake it.
A 20 sided die.
A locket that opens with pictures of old timey people inside. Mom and Dad. a Girlfriend. Your Patron Genie. etc.
A hollow Belt Buckle
A flute
An hourglass
A gem (cut or uncut)
A glass eye
Amulet with a symbol of your patron
Since the Genie is an elemental being, I like the idea that the vessel is somehow tied to the appropriate element.
For a Dao, maybe a raw crystal with stone still clinging to it, or something as mundane as a small potted plant.
For Djinni, a balloon or wind sock? Dunno. That's the hardest one...
For Narid, any bottle or jug that could visibly be filled with water.
For Efreeti, any of the lanterns or lamps that produces a flame... and, of course, it has the Continual Flame spell already cast upon it.
Of course, for the "invisible familiar carrying the vessel" trick, you'll want an element that doesn't produce its own light... sorry Efreeti.

I love the pocket watch! Brilliant!
A Cloud Storage upload 🙂
A red and white ball with a button on it.
You're now a pokemon.
This one might be weird, but could be fun with a willing DM. If you are playing a Tortle, itd be nutty for your shell to be your genie vessel.

My Warlock uses his father's skull as the genies vessel.
Yeah, Noble Genies are evil AF. 💀
