I'm gonna start my first campaign of D&D and decided to go for a Warlock. I've been building my character for a week now but I just cant find a way to fit my idea into my warlock.
So to keep it short my Warlock is very powerhungry but not eager to show his gained powers to fellow adventures. So I want my powers to be a 'lil bit hidden at the start of the campaign (unless in dire need and they will be like WTF!?). So I want to be able to have some expertise in Melee combat. Or spells that other players don't notice I'm a spellcaster.
Basicly I want my Warlock to be Hybrid between caster and Melee. Anny ideas?
- English is not my native language so please bear with me :D - If u need more information about my character feel free to ask.
I know that the hexblade patron is suggested way too often, but in this case it seems to fit your idea decently. They focus on melee combat using their charisma modifier (instead of strength like a normal character) and are able to use medium armor and shields. The charisma base is important because warlocks use charisma for their spell casting and has many useful in-game skills tied to it.
if you don’t have the xanathar’s book (where the hexblade is found) then you will want a high dexterity and some daggers. With these you will be able to dual wield, which lets you use your bonus action to make an attack with the dagger in your off-hand.
After the party finds out about your magic do you still want to focus on weapons? If so, the pact of the blade option at 3rd level is probably the right choice for pact boon. Otherwise, there is pact of the chain that gets your character a pet or pact of the tome that gets your character a creepy book to write spells in.
those were just some quick ideas. If you tell me what level you are starting at I may be able to help more.

The Hexblade would be a great option for you if you want a more melee focused Warlock that can more easily hide his magic behind his sword. They get proficiency with medium armor and shields, something the other warlocks lack for starters, so you can be better equipped for melee combat, and your weapon attacks can use your Charisma score instead of Dexterity or Strength so you can pretend to be a strong warrior without having to have a high strength stat. They also get access to the Green-Flame Blade and Booming Blade cantrips, which make your weapon attacks have more magical damage and effects, and a few smite spells like Branding or Banishing Smite which are similar. Then of course you go Pact of the Blade to get the Blade specific Invocations like Eldritch smite (lv5), which lets you use spell slots to do more damage to your weapons and Thirsting Blade (lv5) to let you attack twice instead of once with your weapon each turn.

Thanks for your ideas I will look in to the Hexblade! I will start at lvl 1 since it will be my first campaign. I also want to use a bit of both. Be a decent mellee combat fighter with Tricks from borrowed power.
Cool thing about Hexblade is when you reach level 5, provided you took Pact of the Blade is you can pretend to be a Paladin with your Eldritch Smites :D
Hexblade, or any patron you find 'Fun/Interesting/great-RP' with the Pact of the Blade. Go for moderate Dex to boost your light armor. Some people like to mutli-class a single level of Fighter or other class to gain Medium/Heavy armor, and a few other combat options. But as Critical Role shows, you don't need to overly worry about 'the best' stuff if you have a good DM and fun group.

Remember there are Rules as Written (RAW), Rules as Intended (RAI), and Rules as Fun (RAF). There's some great RAW, RAI, and RAF here... please check in with your DM to determine how they want to adjudicate the RAW/RAI/RAF for your game.
Choose the Hexblade as your otherwordly patron, and later on choose the Pact of the Blade. For your starting spells (I assume your are starting at 1st level) choose Shield and Wrathful Smite. Those are both spells the Hexblade gives you access to.
