I used my metamagic adept usefully! I was down to 3 hp, and in a tree with a zombie gorilla thing in melee. I used my turn to disengage, leapt off of the tree and used a quickened feather fall to get to the ground! First time it's come in handy!
Of course, then I got squashed by another zombie gorilla and my team had to heal me, but it worked for a moment!

Feather Fall is a Reaction spell. It cannot be quickened, nor would you want to cast it as a bonus action either.

I'm probably laughing.
It is apparently so hard to program Aberrant Mind and Clockwork Soul spell-swapping into dndbeyond they had to remake the game without it rather than implement it.
TWO sorcery points? Are you kidding me? Make it Level/2 sorcery points and I can take it.
Bit of necro post but I will respond.
Level/2 SP is half the sorcery points of a sorcerer and metamagic is what sorcerers are all about. Noone would be a sorcerer if you could be a wizard and get half the SPs.
I have taken Meatmagic adept on an Artificer 1 Abjuration Wizard X when they reached wizard level 12 taking subtle spell and extended spell
Extended spell was used mainly on a campaign specific (5th level) spell that gave a significant level of protection to the party for 1 hour, without extending it I would have wanted to cast it twice but two 5th level spell slots for that protection would have been a high price. There was also an occasion where we infiltrated a rival faction's base we would have been instantly recognised but we used seeming to appear as members of the opposing faction, eextending it to 16 hours allowed us to spend the whole day in disguise go to our rome for the night and cast it again before we left if the next morning. I had plans when I got 9th level spells to cast extended foresight the night before a dangerous mission (or even any evening where I have a metamagic and my 9th level spot at the end of the day), unfortunately we TPKs when a was wizard level 15.
Subtle spell is great when encountering enemies with counterspell, in my campaign on a couple of occasions we got cornered by another faction who were supposed to be civil with us but would kill us given the chance, on both occasions a subtle casting of message calling for back-up saved our skin.
Overall I think metamagic adept is a good feat on the right build / campaign. Extended foresight almost gives you two 9th spell slots and subtle while situational comes up often enough to be useful. I am currently playing a level 15 druid and am probably going to take metamagic adept at 16 on them so they can give the barb foresight.

I just picked it up on my Glamor Bard 6/Hexblade 1/Arcae Trickster 4. My Charisma was already 20. I grabbed Quicken spell and and subtle spell.
I don't think it is bonkers, but being able to get a spell off as a bonus action at the start of combat is pretty boss even if it is only once a day and subtle spell has a ton of out of combat uses. This is especially true as the rest of my party does not like me charming NPCs all the time and have even counterspelled me on occasion. Now they won't know. Also having subtle spell makes spells which require long durations to cast (like Geas) much more effective in play. This PC has an amulet she can use to cast Geas once a week. She can sit down in a tavern across from a target and subtle spell Geas them.

yeah, it can be useful for 2 Subtle spells per day or Quicken 1 spell per day, but I can take just few feats so I prefer feats that I can use whole day (like Warcaster for advantage on concentration checks). Not enough SP for Twinning higher spells. It is like buy a car with with fuel tank for 1 km. This feat is like more intended for Sorcerers to grab more metamagic options because only they have enough SP to fuel feats metamagic options. And even they dont need this feat very much because they will get more metamagic options on higher levels anyway.
I agree metamagic adept is not as powerful as warcaster, maintaining concentration (warcaster or resilient con) are a prioroity above maxing out your casting stat, but it is in the next tier for the right build. I probably would never get it until level 12 and probably more often at 16 I am aware most characters don't get that far. Warcaster was usually taken by casters at level 4 even before they gave it an ASI on top,
In 2014 rules lucky was considered one of the best feats and that only gives you something 3 times a day. Of course you might not like that feat for the same reason you don't like metamagic adept. A good feat that you can use all the time that I would regard as an alternative option would be something like telekietic, most of the time the benefit is tiny compared with what you can get from metamagic adept.
With metamagic adept you need to have spells you plan to use the feat on. I don't think it is worth it for quicken once a day except maybe on a warlock as eldritch blast does so much damage. Casting Extended Foresight on the Barb / Fighter before you go to bed affects the whole (next) day, or at least the first 8 hours of it (and you don't have to choose between having the martially on steroids or keeping your 9th level spell slot in case you need it for something else)
Comparing it for sorrcerers and non sorcerers. Assuming it is taken at 12 or later A sorcerer gets there 3rd and 4th choice meta magics (4th and 5th after level 17) which is considerably less useful than the first and second that a no sorcerer gets, but I do agree for sorcerers the feat does give extra flexibility as they can use the extra uses on their class metamagic options or use there claas uses on the feat options, it might be a wash but I think it is slightly more benficial to non-sorcers if they have specific uses in mind.
2024 rules does raise the bar for feats, many of the 2024 PHB feats are similar to 2014 rulesfeats but with an extra ASI,
