Playing a diviner in SKT. Our rogue found the land records for the town in a smashed hit. Then the orcs came. I took a deed told the orc chieftain he would own the woods and could evict the elves if he took it to Daggerford to register. Cast Suggestion and used a portent to guarantee save fail. Encounter done with no shot fired, gain level, and move on.
Meet Zephyros and talk shop. Got LOTS info because I was a fellow Diviner. Have me a free spell for spellbook.
So, both combat and role playing, I am loving the Diviner.

Gronn -- Tiefling Warlock -- Amarath
Slim -- Halfling Cleric -- CoS (future Lord of Waterdeep 😁)
Update on Diviner in SKT: (3-4 more sessions under belt)
Two more encounters completely avoided with Suggestion + portent. It would have b been 3 but I had a language issue with the Uthgardt that did not speak Common...
Rogue has had a couple of well timed crits thanks to portent. (Love the sneak attack!)
In my weekly Homebrew campaign, table talk had shifted from how the Mystic is OP to the Diviner is F'ing OP. I blame it on the Mystic's player, but I also take it as a sign that a well played Diviner is the most powerful PHB option.

Our bard literally kept an entire party of Goblins occupied outside the first village in HotDQ with a single cast of minor illusion over the river while we escaped for 4-5 investigation checks. Don't underestimate how bad most creatures INT scores are.
Enchanter is the best. You have an at will disable ability. You have the most hilarious power in the game as a reaction(making someone attack someone else), you can twin all your enchanting spells, and you can alter peoples memories without a 5th level spell. Twinned Tashas all day.
Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
Evocation and Necromancy are certainly the most "Wizardy" classes when it comes to making the magic fighter type of character. My first character, Rowan, was an Evocation wizard who I later multiclassed as a Wizard/Fighter. Typically, in D&D we tend to be combat minded in our character creation, out of the instinct to have our creation stand a chance at surviving a dungeon encounter; and the wizard has a lot going against them--low HP, no armor, and weak starting spells--so the Evocation and Necromancy classes are good ways to compensate for these weaknesses.
However....I really like the magical features of the School of Illusion. That is some COOL magic in a campaign, especially one that may not be very combat heavy.
Divination is as class that can be a better support character; leaving the fireball-slinger type and going into the wizard-as-the-party-strategist mode. I really want to play one, but I'm the DM in my current group, so my character ambitions are on hold! Haha.

What do you mean by Arcane Traditions?

I really want to try a diviner and a bladesinger.
