So i've made my first wizard (forest gnome, 11S,14D,14Con,19I,13W,12Cha) im planning on taking the school of enchantment (if we survive to level 2) and then taking Fey touched at level 4 (im thinking heroism for the level 1 spell or bless to buff my party) .
What wizard spells are fun, like which spells are a must have (not for min/maxing) but which spells have had the best impact for everyone at the table ?
Most fun is purely subjective of course, but for me it's Prestidigitation and Grease; two of my favourite spells.
Prestidigitation isn't much use in combat, but with a bit of creativity it's an endlessly amusing utility spell; it's fun to be a wizard who, with a casual wave of a finger and a muttered word snuffs or lights a candle, turns a passable meal into a tasty one, cleans off or warms their robes and so-on. It helps to make a character feel like a Wizard, though depending upon your DM they might allow you to do some of this for free anyway, definitely ask them first. But more generally you can have a lot of fun with it in out of combat situations; reflavouring things is probably my favourite use to torment NPCs I don't like 😂
Grease isn't the most powerful control spell, but it's cheap, versatile and funny; I mean, to start with you've got the mental image of a wizard drawing upon the mystical energies of the weave only to use it to spray grease out of their hands, but it also knocks enemies prone which combos beautifully with martial party members giving them advantage (and sneak attack if you've got a rogue), and also combos well with other trap spells or grappling as if you can reduce a prone enemy's movement to zero then they can't get up. It's a good spell for making an escape, causing a distraction, or setting up an ambush, so it's a firm favourite of mine.

I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.

There are a lot, but for your wizard right now, we can keep the list to levels 0 and 1:
0:
Mage Hand
Mind Sliver (especially if anyone else in the party can also target saves)
Minor Illusion
I don't personally have much use for Prestidigitation outside of a Sorcerer with Subtle Spell, but it's popular.
Shape Water
1:
Note for spells below: I will use an asterisk (*) for "This should always be in your spellbook and never prepared. Casting it as a ritual keeps the entire party safe."
Alarm:*
Comprehend Languages:*
Detect Magic:* Absolutely mandatory.
Feather Fall
Find Familiar:* Practically mandatory.
Silent Image
I left out a fair number of important combat spells, please note - for example, if you completely ignore spells like Mage Armor, Shield, and Absorb Elements, it'll be extra challenging for you to live long enough to cast anything else. Likewise you won't see super significant offense spells in the list (other than Mind Sliver), like Magic Missile and Tasha's Hideous Laughter. These are just particularly notable wizard utility spells.
Unseen servant is super fun. You can ritual cast all day and create a posse of minions that do your bidding until they fade away, only for a fresh one to take their place.
This definitely makes you feel like Mickey Mouse in fantasia.

Not so much fun when one has been around for only 50 minutes and then you're sitting down to ritually cast for the next one to appear for the following hour.
Dissonant Whispers or Command are great and flavorful spells for an Enchanter Wizard if you get Fey Touched.
Invisibility is amazing when paired with Hypnotic Gaze, since the target doesn’t need to see you, only hear you. And since you are not attacking or casting a spell, you’ll not break the Invisibility spell. It’s a great way to lock someone and still protect yourself.

Just keep ritually casting non-stop! Have multiple servants!
Gust and Ray of Frost are the best combo Cantrips for any wizard who is surrounded by a group of non-flying enemies. Gust puts the terrain in a rough condition to walk by ( difficult terrain ), and then cast Ray of Frost on any enemy who avoided the effects of being pushed back.
Mold Earth and Shape Water are the best combo if your group wants to be protected with some barrages and some pits ( trenches/ditches?)....
