Or do you mean they wanna change subclass? Like switch from diviner to abjurationist? There is no mechanic, but I'm sure you could create some fun in game thing to let them switch.
To note, I would't let them keep some powers from old subclass and then gain new ones. Thats letting them mix and match subclass powers which opens alot of doors for quite OP options.

Oh, have two subclasses in the same class at once? No. He could take a subclass in wizard and one in another spellcasting class (artificer is common).
