Hello. I am trying to build my Eladrin Bladesinger with longsword as my "training in war and song" weapon proficiency. I am 5 Rogue and 2 Wizard. I know I already have longsword because it is in my Rogue proficiency and probably doesn't matter, but why wont it show up as an option on my Bladesinger options like dagger does?
I'm building an Eladrin Bladesinger, as well. Level 9 Wizard. I'm having the same issue as above. I can't determine a reason why longsword isn't on the list of viable one-handed melee weapons for the "Training in War and Song" class feature. There's no indication anywhere that I can find that "finesse" be a requirement for a Bladesinging weapon. Furthermore, if it were Shortsword would be on the list, which it is not.
Why would you want to use a long sword as a bladesinger/rogue?! It's a strength weapon so no sneak attack and you have access to only light armor do you want to pump Dex and dump strength. Am I missing something?

Hope this makes sense.
Thanks everyone.
Can you post here the link address of your character sheet, so we can give a look?
The longsword is not a finesse weapon like the rapier is. Thus, it can't normally be used for sneak attacks.
Watch your back, conserve your ammo,
and NEVER cut a deal with a dragon!

Thoughts?
If you already have proficiency in the weapon, it won't show up in the list of weapons to gain proficiency in.
Long sword is included in elven weapon training, therefor it won’t show up as an option on War and Song.
