you make one attack with the weapon used in the spell’s casting. The attack uses your spellcasting ability for the attack and damage rolls instead of using Strength or Dexterity. If the attack deals damage, it can be Radiant damage or the weapon’s normal damage type (your choice).
Melee weapon still effect with true strike but ranged weapon like shortbow longbow etc. not effect by it.
There is nothing in the description of True Strike that specifies that it must be a melee weapon, so yes. I am currently playing an intelligence-based Arcane Trickster Rogue that uses True Strike with a Short Bow as their go-to attack.
The DnDBeyond character sheets don't accurately reflect the true strike attacks, so you just have to create a custom attack action. My Rogue currently deals like 11d6 damage with True Strike and Sneak Attack, not to mention is insanely accurate with Elven Accuracy.
The question that is of much debate is actually which feat interacts with True Strike when used with a ranged weapon - Sharpshooter or Spell Sniper. Some say one, some the other, and some few argue that either should apply. it's a judgement call for your DM.
In the spells description it says the range is self, (a weapon you have proficiency with) but right below it the spell says the range/save is melee. This leads me to believe that the attack must be a melee attack.
Can you think of another spell that says it's a melee range that you can use at range attack?

It's a bug on the site. See this thread.
